    XR650 - Fuel??

    Howdy all

My brother has just brought an XR650 (2002) model, and I took him down on the back of the BMW (these are great 2 up ) to pick it up from Palmerston North last Saturday

Well on the return trip we both filled up in Palmy and headed back to Napier, he hit reserve at about 130km and only got about another 30km after that to empty?

So does that sound right? 150- 170km on a full tank of gas??

And does anyone know of any after market (bigger) fuel tanks for the XR650??

    Cheers in advance
    Scott

For a small enduro tank on an enduro bike, yep. 9.8L is all they hold, from one source I found.

Safari is another source for a new tank.

Was that the one from AFC?

    I'd love a XR650 with a motard setup.

You can get some crazy big tanks for the XR's.

That fuel mileage sounds about right.
If I thrashed my XR400, it was lucky to get 120km on a tank.

    Hi there

Nah we looked at that one, and it wasn't in good shape
When we arrived they had it out the back water blasting it, a sure sign that something isn't right

Anyway he took it for a test ride and said it had a flat spot, then as we talked out come the oil leaks, there was a large number of drops on the ground!!

For the price they were asking it was no where near good enough!!

So we went around to Phil Turnbull's and there was one there. $2500 cheaper, and in much better condition, and they threw in a few extras

    Good service too

    Hmmm
A GS eater, it certainly has some boogie, the pick up is good
I am picking with its current gearing that the GS has a bigger top speed, but I haven tested that
The GS is a lot more comfortable through the corners
