    I saved a rider's life yesterday

There are so many - bloody cage drivers threads - I thought I would share what happened to me yesterday.

Last night I was driving down to Cambridge from Auckland there is a right turn with a driveway that joins via way of a merge just at the end point of the corner.

I went thru the corner faster than the car in front of me - making ground with the intention of passing him on the straight that follows (having done this trip 100's of times and knowing the roads well).

Now that Im riding - Im far more aware of bikes (and I like to look at them) and I just happened to notice a bike's lights coming down the driveway behind the trees - he wasnt going very fast but I noticed him (thank god).

I exited the corner and indicated and started to pull out to overtake the car in front and as I do this the guy on the bike pulls out from the car behind me (no indicating - nothing) and puts his wrist fully down overtaking me as I'm overtaking. Its only because I was looking for the posibility that the bike was 'back there somewhere' when I moved out to overtake (he wasnt there when I started indicating or pulling out) that he is alive today.

I had to pull in as it looked like he was going to go into the back corner of my car - he didnt have control of the speed or the condition of the road.

By taking an agressive manover that almost caused me to hit another car I managed to get out of his road giving him an extra couple of feet saving him going off the road.

So - if you are the guy / gal with leathers full of brown stuff and are reading this - remember that its wankers like you who give bikers bad names, and stop riding like someone with a death wish.

Id rather be posting this than a Biker dead thread.

I may well have brown undies - but my point was simply that some riders out there are bloody idiots on the roads and put themselves in situations where their safety is 100% in the hands of others.

Bikers having a bad name doesnt help anyone - esp when you are looking for some lenience from Mr Plod.

Well done for being so on to it.
The devil's advocate in me wants to know why you prevented Darwin from doing his job....
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    Which reminds me... "67UDU"

If anyone can find that guy I owe him a beer... I did something dumb (merged into a splitting lane a bit quick assuming I was the fast thing on the road at that point...) and he saw me, went around me and saved us both an insurance claim.

I'm still bloody annoyed at meself for doing what I did but if anyone is able to PM me details of the man on his bike (was a Dakar looking thing - beemer I think)... shoot them over will ya.

Where's that "hang my head in shame" icon thingy?
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details

Pay your $2.25 at the Post Office, get his address off the plate and send him something or visit.

Interesting. Not that it affects me personally - I never give the correct address for registration details - it should never have been a public register in the first place and that proposed law goes nowhere near far enough IMO.

I remember listening to the radio yesterday and hearing someone saying "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life.."

    Is this connected?

I'm NOT Homophobic!! I am not afraid of my own house.
