Mentor/Pace-bike/Hare from Christchurch

I was wondering if there's someone with good experience in road riding around Christchurch who might be willing to have a newbie sitting on their rear wheel while keeping a steady pace (since I'm on my learners I don't go above either 70 km/h or the speedlimit whichever is higher - +10 km/h ofc and sometime maybe a little bit more).

I'm feeling fairly confident but I'd like to have someone I could observe about positioning and bodyposture while riding around bends and that sort. If it's someone who'd be willing to sit behind me everynow and again to give me some feedback on what I do then that would be an additional bonus.

So far I've only ridden by myself and have made my way all around town, over Gebbies, Dyers and Evans pass, along the eastern part of Summit Rd. from Mt. Pleasant Rd. until Godley Head and as far around Lyttleton Habour as Diamond Harbour. I'd be keen to go further afield but would like some company for that...

Hey mate. People might argue that I'm not really experienced enough to offer, but I figure I'd still notice if you were doing something overly wrong. So yeah, I'd be keen. Getting my bike back from the shop shortly (been in there for ages!! ), which will be great...

Or you could come along to a Cruisy Wednesday Night Ride as well, pick someone to pair up with and leave last. Good way to do it

I plan to be there this wednesday. And I mostly just want to sit back and observe how other people do things (what speeds, what posture, etc.) and apply that. As I mentioned if someone feel up to the task of riding behind and giving specific pointers that would just be a plus.

And it doesn't really matter how inexperienced you are - you'd be almost certain to have more than me. (Got learners on the 17th of September).

If you've had to miss it for a while at least let's hope they've done a decent job of it!

Those are some pretty tricky roads for a newbie, so if you are feeling ok on them, then you are probably doing fine.
Def do the wednesday night ride, as there are people of all levels there... hopefully ... as long as the weather doesn't keep interrupting it!
just spend lotsa time in the saddle, and see if you can find someone on the wed nite ride to take you out at other times.

Okay, here... ahem, introduction please? *Fanfare* Thankyou.

Here's the discussion thread. But if you can't be bothered navigating many many pages of... err... quality discussions...

The short version: We meet at 6pm (for a 6.30pm departure) at the BK Moorhouse car park (we'll regroup at the Halswell Tavern car park after heading off, say 6.45, in case you'd rather just wait there) each Wednesday... as long as it isn't raining, as Rashika said. The idea is to have an easy paced cruise, meet some people, discover some roads you may not have ridden on. Everyone's welcome.

Go and talk to Joseph at the Suzuki shop in Manchester. He organises them on a regular basis. On the track you can safely get to know your bike and the instructors there can show you correct lines etc...

You can come out for a ride with me sometime.The more you ride the more you learn.Track days will help but on the road you have the traffic to contend with and thats where you do most of your riding.So if you are keen we can do some slow riding practice and you can follow me around town and a bit out of town then i will foolow to see how you go.

Good on you for trying to get the right sort of help, the Wednesday night rides will be way to make contacts and those track days sound like a great idea.

I would offer but really I am inexperienced due to having been off bikes for so long.
