    I am the awezome!!!

After 3 months of chasing a project monitoring role with a leading construction company - I have it!! The letter arrived today.

I will be working for Fletcher Construction as a Project Co-ordinator. Based at the 1 Featherston St site (opposite the Railway Station) in Wellington. The role is comprised of a salary package that (while not huge) is better than what I'm getting, Project Manager development programme, Study assistance (both financial and time based - early finishes to get to 'tec) and some decent employee benefits - leave, health insurance etc...

To say I am pleased would be the understatement of the year. I've had a tough year, especially with my current employer, while still succeeding in my current role (Project Co-ordinator). This role career represents the first time I've developed from one employer to the next while retaining the same role. For someone who's working life has been drifting from job to job with no clear direction this represents a huge step forward. I posted a thread earlier this year about growing up and getting my full license - this is a further extension of that process... I'm actually proud of me - that too is a first...

Just thought I'd share a little bit of my world...
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

    Good on ya Col.

Project Management is a worthy goal. The world is crying out for good PMs.

I'm so glad I made the jump to a role combining both PM and staff management. Even a day spent delving into root cause analysis or struggling with a Project plan which simply won't fit into the timeframe or budget you've been allocated (even if you allow for the fact that no-one will let you down) is better than a day doing what someone else who doesn't know what they're doing has told you to do.

Some thoughts on Project Management (if I may be so bold):

Maslow's Law of Problem Solving: If the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

Wilson's Corollary: Even if a problem really is a nail, you've still got to know whether to bang it in or yank it out.

Best of luck in the new job mate. You've worked hard and thoroughly bloody deserve it.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
