    Bike insurance

As a newbie i was suprised to find full cover insurance was like $70 a month (IAG thru ASB) Is this acceptable? Seems real expensive!? What about partial cover, like insurnace just for my bike and no 3rd party. (wouldn't it be rare to damamge someone elses property? What's the norm in the biking world. What do you have?

VTR250 through kiwibike is around $30 per month for me for full cover. And I have it covered for learner riders as well. Don't imagine the bandit will be a whole lot more than that. You can but ask..

KiwiBike quoted me $1250 a year. Ill take the risk and go without it. Might be able to eat 3 meals a day that way

Had insurance for 5 years and made one claim so they screw you - whats the point of having it?

Another for Dave and Donna at Kiwibike here... I wish my insurance was like some of yours, I'm just into 4 figures a year... but meh, when any uninsured idiot can take you out and not pay, its probably a good idea.

    Insurance

Hello - I am the Road Sales Manager at Whitelock Suzuki in Wanganui and sell insurance all around the country. We have a sub-agency for Classic Cover (Vero) and the premiums/excesses are very competitve. If you are over 30 years old, have a clean driving record and a locked garage to keep you bike in, then I would be happy to give you a quote.

I just do full icomprehensive insurance - not third party, or third party, fire theft etc. One guy insured his RF900 with me becuase my full insurance was cheaper than the Third Party Only he was paying. We insure all brands - Harley Davidson, Ducati, Triumph, Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki etc etc.

The main points to note are...
-$2500.00 cover automatically included for motorcycle related clothing (helmet, boots, gloves, armoured jacket, armoured pants) which means you don't have to claim on your contents policy and incur another excess.
-$1500.00 cover automatically for spares/accessories like aftermarket pipes, panniers
-you can opt to have Roadside Assistance for an extra $25.00 premium. This gives you an 0800 number to call and if you have problems with your bike, you can call it and a nicce person will come out, pipck you and your bike up and take you to the nearest garage
-if your bike is under 12 months old and it is stolen/written off, you get a replacement bike. There is no depreciated/market value settlement.
-you can pay the premiums off over 3 months at no extra charge
-you can pay by cheque, direct credit or credit card.

If you are interested, just email me on sue@whitelocksuzuki.co.nz with your name, date of birth, make, model and value of your bike and I can do you a quote no problems. I will also give you fuller details of the cover.

I have had 3 clients claim thru Classic Cover and they are very complimentary about the service provided. So far, so good for me, I sell the insurance with a lot of confidence.

What you get with me is a person who is very committed to her clients whether they are buying bikes/insurance/finance or whatever. I have an insurance background (the most boring job in the world and I did it for 15 years!!!) so if my clients were to have problems I would wade right in along side them and go into bat for them.

If nothing else, a quote form me will give you a comparison to gauge by.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Sue
