Just an idea but you could do what I did and spend some of the insurance money on a cheap bike to race in F3? The race track is after all the safest place to ride.
Keeps you off the road and will greatly improve your riding skills too. I've seen you blasting around Puke so I know you have what it takes.
What a WIMP.....I wrote my new bike off the day after I got it.....I picked the next one up while still on crutches and rode it on icy roads; obviously not a REAL biker. Funny how these more important things weren't there till your bike was smashed. Seems you have a lot more in common with WKID than you thought. Here today gone tomorrow (and no deserter jibes please).
Just trolling for a rise out of you![]()
My bike is still in the garage as I can't afford to insure (and register and tax) the bike over here yet. I made some choices that seriously harmed my income, and the bike will wait until my family are lloked after. I guess I could register and tax it then sell it to free up some money.....but then it's not a good time to sell in the UK...and I'd have to buy one again next year.

Now you'll have a chance to be a "Born Again Biker" sometime.
I told you a while back you really need two bikes to ensure this kind of break isn't necessary. Dirt bikes like I have are a good backup because they rarely get wrecked in a way that you can't ride them after a bit of tweaking e.g. straightening the bars or whatever.

Sorry to hear that you crashed in the first place Zed. Atleast you're still alive and able to make choices. After my 2nd serious crash (broken leg again) I felt I owed it to my Folks to give up road bikes for awhile, but it wasn't long before I got back on a dirk bike to keep me sane. What I'm saying is maybe trying a slower pace for awhile might be good. A different style of riding, maybe a cheap jap cruiser. Get you through the traffic, cheap to own and run compared to a high performance bike. There's no shame in a crash shaking a riders nerves (I'm not saying that's the case with you) and breaking the bank a/c, just a shame to totally give up something that's so much fun. All the best anyway Zed. :spudwave:

Hey mate sorry to hear of the bin sounds like some experience ay. I hope that you are not hurt too much?
Back in the 80s I gave away bikes for a time as I had a rather close encounter with the back wheel of a Holden station wagon with my head. I decided that I wanted to marry my girl and did have a reason to continue living. 20 yrs later I've have several bikes, just needed to cause those little motorcycles racing around in my veins were driving me crazy. brought a trail bike XR500 cause they go slower....yeah right changed the sprockets and I was one loose goose again. Got hit by a drunk driver.... oh well such is life. Sold it when I went to OZ. Brought another one but binned that when I fell alseep going to work at 3:30 am, binned it again at a round about, throtle stuck open, did some majour damage to my self with that one the hip still plays up at times. Moved to Auckland brought another one to commute to work and study. Walked away from a head on at Matamata, rebuilt the bike as soon as I could breath normally again, sold it when I got a company car. Binned a loan bike when I hit some desiel on the Rotoma's. Been accident free since then thank the Lord. My Mrs has forbidden me to have any more bins they sure cost a lot and it takes much longer to recover these days.
So one day you may well be back on a bike again
as Mark said...

My cheap bike cost $3000 had it for 4 years been all around the country used and abused every day, now its time to convince the Mrs that I need another larger cruzer as I've been good and cruzers are safer cause they dont go as fast.... well that what I've used in the past, maybe extend the investment to a classic bike as well. At least she is warming to the idea I hope, time will tell.
Zed keep in touch with us here as I have noticed that others are bikeless at the mo and keep posting, one has to keep the dream alive because it will never go away.

Discover a new way of doing things. By an old cheapie and have some serious fun with it. Or maybe a trailie.... Honestly, you can have fun without spending billions and if you want to park it up for a few months, who cares.
Don't be a stranger eh!

My bike premium would probably go up even further if they did continue my policy and its already gone up to $1500 a year. When I get my next bike I'll certainly try another insurance company...in the interim I'll save some money anyway.Originally Posted by bluninja
