I just quickly read this thread and it seems some of you know what you are on about, its cool that you guys are set up yourselves, (eg making an oven)
pm me some pics of what you guys are up to and maybe I could help with any questions you might have about - prepreg, resin infusion, vacuum bagging etc
3 layer 96gm dual twil, VER, hand laid and vac bagged, I'm getting a little dryness at the intersections of the weft and weave. Getting a structurally perfect part, no excess resin, an ideal resin to matt ratio, and I can use clear coat to complete the part, but do have a suggestion for fixing it? Giving the mold a very light coat of resin, letting it B stage, and then laying up, didn't really make as much difference as I was lead to believe, and I don't want to try that with clear gelcoat as it won't take the heat like the VER. Bagging with quite a good (strong) vac pump, it's probably holding around the 29" mark if I had to take a guess (haven't put a gauge on yet), perhaps I'd be better of at 25"?

did some inquiring around and getting "Coby New Zealand" to do the mandrell bends that we need, about a 30 dergree angle in a 2 inch pipe about 7 inches long. the best for these mufflers.
But finding it hard to get someone to mandrell bend preferated pipe that will be used inside the muffler. Not an easy task that one, have send the item down to "Coby" to see what they can do. less then 200mm between bends with multy bends in a 500mm peice of pipe.

We should definitely talk more if you've some time, I've had some luck with finding that sort of stuff.

Autobend down here will mandrel bend anything the way you want it, but stainless perf tubing is hideously expensive. I believe they can source it for you though.

Less than 200mm between bends is doable on 2" pipe if I recall correctly. They can do down to some short distances, but, when they get down to their short clamping dies, you can expect a little crushing or marking of the tube. Not a lot, and not worth losing sleep over imho, but worth noting. If you ring them, they'll be able to tell you the minimum distance between bends, either done perfectly, or marked if the distance is too small.

Trying to communicate that sort of stuff over the phone to some people is a chore, but they were quite helpful.

They also have stainless mandrel bends and donuts galore, not too badly priced too.

your a champ imdying, see what Coby new zealand has to say has they have my samples if they say can't be done then im ringing up your guys and sending them pic's etc.
the piping exhuasting will be inside the muffler and out of site.
    Getting pricey, this muffler game.
280 buck for 20 heavey duty D clamps in stainless (two for each muffler) that was heavey discounted as well, hook ups.
Will make 10 mufflers and see how we go with selling them, most likely take them down to the suzuki track days and let people have a try on the track with them.

If you have no joy over the phone, I have contacts there, I'll take them in myself and get some proper answers

You've got that right :/ I'd be a lot better off if I could weld stainless myself, but I've other tools to get ahead of a welder.

Just using slip joints and springs on mine, but then I'm not looking at production quality/reliability of fitment, it's just one offs.

Fibreglass for the first few layers is an intersting concept, might give that a whirl at some stage
