My step up from restricted to full

I only have 4 months left on my restricted and am trying to decide what bike to get next. I will mainly be using it for commuting, but would want to use it on longer trips as well. It needs to be able to pillion, but not often and not far. I am quite fond of my SRX250, but would like a little more top end grunt....I dont plan on being a particularly fast rider, but I would like to be able to overtake on the open road comfortably.
What are peoples thoughts on the srx600 (given that my limit for spending will be around four grand)? I do have a preference for thumpers.

They're a really nice bike, by all accounts. A guy I work with at the moment used to have one, and just about cried when he wrote it off.
I've also ridden my friends SRX400, and that was a complete hoot. If the 600 is anything like it, but with more grunt it would be an awesome little bike. Even the 400, while not being a rocketship above 100km/h, is damn quick off the mark. I'm really not a thumper fan but I liked it.
I dunno about getting one for under $4k though, they tend to go for a bit more than that for nice ones. I've seen a ratty one for $3kish though

Theres a really nice srx400 going for $3795 at the moment.

I dont think they are too popular due to being kick-start, and singles dont seem to be the most popular choice for road bike.

They do have an electric start, at least my mates one does.. He paid $2500 for his and it had done 14000kms. They're kind of orphans, a lot more people bought the 600s, but they also tend to hang on to them.

They really aren't fast though, I think my GPX250 would give 400 a good spanking at anything above about 80km/h.

What about the MuZ Skorpion Sport?

looks reasonable, and the price is rather attractive. Anyone ridden one of these?

Also, Mt Eden Motorcycles has one for sale, might have to go and have a sit on it.

From memory the MuZ has a Yamaha 660 single, so remarkably like a Euro SRX. If it's in good nick, and you like the style could be just the ticket.
