    It's been a long time coming ..

So I've had my RD for about .. 2 months? My first bike (and mode of transportation). Had her fixed up, got all my gear, had my carpark lessons .. time to put aside all the excuses and actually get her on the road.

So today I had my first road ride

Naturally I had my wonderful Romeo riding with me to make sure the nasty cage drivers wouldn't just run me flat over if I stalled at the lights (which, of course, I did a couple of times). Took her right across town and down an 80k section of road - managed to keep her going at 75k's - and home again.

Must slip this into the post too - Quasimoto Sliderz - recommend 100%! Seriously comfy to wear and got wonderful customer service from them.

    Boy what a relief!

I can't believe I left her sitting in the drive for so long. I've stuck on a couple of pics from when I got home. Check out the gleeful look in the picture on the right.

See you on the road, folks.

Oh dear. Seems like the awful 'Bike Riding Bug' has another victim. Congrats on your first outing. Just be careful out there huh!
And yay the mighty RD50! There can't be too many of those around now so I guess if I wave at any I see there's a damned good chance it'll be you.

You did really well today Jo, I'm super proud of you. The way you took the bull by the horns and dominated that wee RD50 really impressed me!

Oh, and when we were on QE2 drive you were doing more like 80KPH. Because I was doing 50MPH+ and I definitely wasn't closing - your old man sure did a good job on the rebuild! I think it needs a smaller sprocket on the back though ;P.

So, off to Sumner for chippies on the weekend I take it ;D? Then maybe up to the sign of the kiwi the weekend after that, once you've got a few more KMs under your belt of course ;D. Before you know it you'll be gaggin' for a 250cc!

Yeah, that's right, I've got a motorcycling girlfriend...

Hmm. I just need to watch out for an RD50 accompanied by a CB175 I suppose. What are the chances that that combination are riding together anywhere else?

Congrats on the first ride and I hope you'll get many more. Don't worry too much about the waving thing to start with. Just get confident with the riding, waving will come but not at a price eh.

Awww trips to sumner for F&C, how sweet and what a great idea.

Go, enjoy and have a ball. see you around.

Yeah definitely, I try not to take my hands off the handle bars (except for when my mirror swings forward at me .. thats annoying)
Yeah F&C is a regular thing for me and Alex except it's usually in the car .. it'll be much more fun with the bikes instead

Cooooolllll!!!! Isn't it funny how you can put something off for ages and as soon as you do it you wonder why you waited so long. The glee on your face tells its own story - you go girl.

I think it's the leather jacket that makes it look so good

Thanks yeah it's funny. I was so seriously nervous and thinking I was going to cause some major crash and kill people, but once I got out there I was ok. And other drivers seemed to be reasonably understanding and easy on me because of my trusty L plate

Cool bike. I raced on one of these in a fifty frenzy race once. More power than my Suzuki A50 at the time.

Just curious, is it registered as a moped or a motorcycle?

Moped If I was on my motorcycle learners I'd be on a bigger bike
