    Value of bike after dropped

Just curious, how much do you think the value of a bike changes after being dropped (off stand) resulting in a 15cm crack in main side fairing. (If it was repaired with plastic welding/fibreglassing and repainted to make it invisible from the outside).

If you were buying a bike and saw a repair job on the inside of the fairing would you still buy it?

Are we talking a hypothetical situation that may or may not have happened .

For me as long as you could see it was only a cosmetic incident, owner was honest about it, and it had been fixed properly I wouldnt worry. It may make me look a little bit harder in and around that area to see if there was any further damage that may have been covered up.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

    Depends on the whole package.
Of the last three bikes I've owned, two had obvious repair damage. The current one's actually in worse condition cosmetically than when I bought it, but what difference that makes to its value is academic, as I paid way too much for it anyway, and got reamed on my trade-in.
My anus is almost healed, but the pain remains, as does the bad taste in my mouth (and the huge hole in the bike shop's coffers from stuff I didn't buy there - the hole's bigger than the amount they got from the reaming, and grows every month...)
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Of course its a purely hypothetical situation where the bike shop that was working on it may or may not have dropped it...

Trying to work out should it happen what to claim off them...

that happened to me (i saw him drop it).

The shop should repair it so its in the same condition that you left it with them.

if it's not in the same condition (ie you can see plastic welds) then they should compensate. if they don't then tell us who it is. There should be no excuses as all shops should carry insurance for this type of hypothetical accident.

Yeah I was thinking either push for a full replacement fairing or get it repaired and some cash difference for the loss in value... But whats the loss in value figure...?

If its repaired and painted properly then i dont believe it affects value of the bike at all,Ive never inspected the inside of the fairings of any bike that i have bought and i guess i would only bother doing it if the repair was obvious from the outside.

I reckon press them to replace the whole fairing section - I've had repairs done in the past that have popped open again later on. You have no way of knowing whether it will happen and by the time it does it's too late to go back.
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be quoted out of context, then used against you.
