I didn't have the chicken but i think wet boots for two days didn't help. Feeling average on Monday and very sorry for myself Tuesday-Thursday.. only got back today.

I know KK and MR are also a bit under the weather - anyone else paying for not wearing a wetsuit?

On tuesday I had a sore throat like typically happens before I get a cold, but its gone now. I reckon it was just due to getting too cold and wet on saturday and lack of sleep.

So, all you people have bought the nonsense propagated on TV and movies, that if you get cold and wet, you somehow pluck a virus out of somewhere and get sick?

You get viruses from other people with them, whether directly (contact, breathing in their germs, sticking your tongue down their throat), or indirectly (touching something an infected person has touched, then eating something or touching your own eyes, nose or mouth).

If you think could get cold or flu viruses (not the same things, BTW) from getting cold and/or wet, do you also believe you can get sexually-transmitted viruses from getting hot and bothered reading/watching porn?

well the battering to my immune system almost certainly came from the rain and hard slog keeping up with MR when some people thought it could've been hailing.
The virus was probably from the kitchen but if you've got a better theory as to why all these people have the flu I'd love to hear it Dr Doolittle!

Yep, its not from being cold, I have got the flu virus for sure. The light headedness I am getting can almost be comparied to being high.

I thought that there were viruses floating around all over the place (eg. from other people sneezing, coughing, touching stuff like you say) and that normally you don't get affected by them, but if you get too stressed from cold/lack of sleep/overwork, that your immune system can weaken making you susceptible to catching a cold or flu or whatever.
I think most people know that the cold and the flu are different, at least by the different symptoms/severity of illness.

sorry to hear all you guys have been crook with the flu or whatever, I got the chicken thing, but no flu thankfully, although I felt a bit seedy for a few days, got bloody cold and wet on saturday, but no lasting effects after dethawing in the pools, damn, Pete and I missed the orgy! lol

no flu here - does that send the word out for eating read meat ah? Nuffin wrong with the teabone and breakfast was mighty fine. I just wish someone had told me I am getting a bit older and recovery takes a few hours more than when I was 18 dammit
