I didn't know Dan but would like to send my best wishes to your family. It doesn't matter how old your children are when they die - 21 or 61 - children are supposed to outlive their parents.

From the thumbnails posted it looked like he lived life to the full and died doing the thing he loved most - I hope that with time your pain eases.

    RIP fellow kiwibiker

Looks like the cheese cutters need to go. They always give me the shits, riding near them...
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...

I know I'm late in posting but had a good think about this before posting

A lot of us didn’t know Dan (me included), but in our minds we are all brothers and sisters, with our love of biking and the community spirit like we have on KB and other motorcycling web sites. We share a common secret, it’s like every time we pass another motorcyclist and we give the old wave or nod, we each know that secret that makes us who we are. The challenge, the thrill and the respect of what we can do on our bike is the reason we ride, the only downfall is the risk we take every time we get out on our machines. I never like reading the posts of what is said about fallen members, but then there are always those great memories of time spent, jokes had, I just give my wife and daughter the extra hug and kiss and pray that I am never one of the fallen.

To Dan’s family thanks for sharing with Dan “that secret” and letting him live, so that we in turn could share with Dan through meeting him on rides or reading his posts, by all accounts he has done himself and family proud.

    Stay safe everyone

RIP Dan. I didn't know you but I hope you ride free in that great highway in the sky. Condolences to family and friends at this very sad time.

    RIP....

Although I didn't know him, it doesn't hit home any less.
My most sincere condolences to the family.

Please ask should there anything we can do. It would not be the first time the KB community helps a rider's family in a time of need.

May you ride forever young one...

I wasn't going to post anything in here because I didn't know Dan and it might come across as meaningless. And then I realised that his death has affected every single one of us, whether we knew him or not. Your life has been taken away far too soon, and my heart goes out to all your loved ones. RIP.

An appalling end to a young chap I can just remember.
My condolences to his family and friends, and Felix, who was at the scene.
Let us hope some good can come out of such a tragic event.

Eloquently put. Reflects my thoughts too.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Goodbye mate, you really were a character. Well wise and mature beyond your years.
Your views on life and the surroundings always made me wonder if you were really just 1 year younger than me. Vocal when needed to be, and silent when not.
    I'll miss you, buddy.
