LOL thats the Fairlady from Feilding ... awesome mufty car, talked a few times to the cop that drives it when I was on ambulance... said he catches a lot of people.

He previously drove a high performance Commadore V8 persuit car, he got out of that into the Nissan and said the power increase was scary.

$150 AND demerits (20 from memory...) all caught on video around here so no arguments about "it was orange" or the like...

I very much doubt you got cameras in each and every intersection in NZ!
As such that's another lame argument for not doing any other traffic policing than speeding enforcement. "Or red lights... check, we got those covered. Bought five cameras last week."

My mate who's a cop said no demerits... he could be wrong but what would I know.

Nope, quite right there, not one in every intersection. One for our city is all, and we can set it up wherever. Dunno about the other towns, for them to sort out. There isn't a cop on each and every street either.....

Your mate, who is a cop, is wrong....

Granted, they aren't going to keep up with much, but I've heard bout WXR's and Evo's been kitted out too.
Sneek, yes. Justified, yes. You break the law, you accept you will be caught at some point

I've met that fella... sneaky bastard in a rather new fancy looking black commodore... He came up over a hill while I was going from Murchison towards Chch in the car. He pinged me I thought FUCK it's a mufty, hit the brakes, thought "nah, too damn late", kept my speed up - I think I saw some blue and red reflections somewhere as I went over the hill crest. Kept my speed up and never saw him again. But then again, he could've been called off towards Murchison in a hurry

Watch this space... police are moving to the P25 encrypted radio standard. But, depending on how they set it up, it may be "internet aware". So if it is, we will be able to "ping" it... so it may be that we will be able to spot a traffic car long before they can even radar you...

Even it doesnt get an IP stack, its a pretty rare way to send radio trafiic in NZ and will be easily spotted.

    Well done NZ police !

Oops... my bad.... your mate is right! There are no demerits for going through red lights!!! Demerits for failing to stop at stop signs, failing to give way, failing to stop at red flashing lights at a railway... they all carry demerits, but not at red lights!!! Go figure....

Ive heard of a similar "experience" lately near Murch. We got 'em using station wagons round here as well . Getting like you got to think that every on coming late model car could be out to get ya!! The days of going for a "blat" down the Gorge (or anywhere else really) might be coming to an end for me & Im going to try & slow down....save the money in fines & try & get to the track .
Hope all the bikers who've been headin' Nth to the Nelson rally have been able to avoid the ravening pack of them round here...
