Anyone Running Shinko's New Sports Tyres, or am I the ONLY one?

2 weeks ago I fitted the new Shinko 003 stealth’s to the bike to see if they are any good. 120/70/17 & 190/50/17
I used to race on the 003 back when Yokohama were making them and I wanted to see if Shinko were making them the same now that they have bought the tooling.
Well I am some what impressed!! and for the $350 for the set, very happy with the lack of investment.
For Road use they are more than I need and they can still stick it to the track days.
Any one running these or the 005's ??

Started a thread a while ago and almost everyone, bar Pickle and a few others poo pooed Shinkos. I'd be interested in how you get on.

The 003's used to be the race special for the 250's & 600's, what bike have you got them on?. Would be interested to see how they handle a bigger bike on the road - dont know how good they would be in the wet tho. Do they still come in the different compounds?

We ran the old 003 in 250 prod racing way back and they were good. The new 003's i have on a GSXR1100 WP "see photo in My Profile" and we all know that these can rip up tyres.
The first 3 days on the tyres it was raining and they were better than expected. the 003 compound is very soft and the grip level is very good. The Old Strada's would light up in the wet where these wont. I am a big Pirelli fan and don’t mind shelling out the big bucks for the tyres but these were available so i thought i would give them a go.

Just to be clear... I am talking about the NEW Shinkos (003, 005, 006 and the 009) Not the tyres for the older bikes or scooters...

Hasn't Shinko just brought out a new slick? Quite reasonably priced new as well, know anything about them, Rees was hacking round taupo not so long ago on a set reckon's not as good as the dunlop but for the price pretty damn good.

One of the Tokoroa 'busa boys is running Shinko's so that must be a fair test as he's still upright!

I think Shinkos are the control tyre for the motard series in Australia? im sure I read that. they are probably great for the road or slower guys like LB I guess

My ZX9R has got a new Shinko rear on it (much to my horror), but - so far, it feels OK - gets quite sticky - heats up fast and seems to stick OK on chipseal

How are they on the road compared to Bridgestone stickies (say, 014 or 012)?

I'd be keen on a set of those 003's at $350 a set.... let us know how many k's ya get from them.

I have sold the bike so wont know the amount of K’s. They certainly held there own as a good road tyre. They would cut up nicely when pushed hard. On the 1100 the back tyre would do about 6K to 9K Kms at a guess.
The thing that surprised me was the amount or grip in the wet from what is really a dimpled Slick.

We all like or dislike tyres due to a good or bad experience, but all I can say is that I have ridden with a lot worse than theses 003’s, and they are the brands we all know!
They were stickier than the Diablo Strada but not as good as a Corsa Pro.
Will I be putting them on my NEW GSXR-750K6??? One things for sure I wont be putting B-stones on it again!!!
