    Hey guys,

i rung up AA today enquiring about insurance. apparently they dont insure under 25s on motorcycles. same with most of the other ones ive contacted. gosh! i wish i knew that before i bought my bike lol. anyone know of a company who will insure me? im only a 150cc bike! pretty sure my car could do alot more damage than my little bike. lol.

Have you tried http://www.kiwibike.co.nz/ ??? Admittedly I am no where near the 'under 25' range, however they have given me such a good deal on the 1098 that I suspect they may be able to provide a good deal everywhere? worth a try

Yeah, avoid the AA if you want to insure a bike.

They don't really want to insure bikes, but instead of just saying "no bikes", they give you a farking stupidly large excess, and to boot they won't insure you at all unless you are on the wrong side of 25 and have your full license.

You'll probably want to avoid all of the "major" insurance companies unless you already have a big policy with them and want to keep it all together.

As mentioned before, request a quote through kiwibike.co.nz. I'm 23 with a learners and I got a great deal. Expect pretty high excess though until you're 25 and on your full license.

Actually, it might be less painful if you give them a ring and talk to them directly?

There is an 0800 number and they are very pleasant and easy to deal with. The 'request an on line quote' option might take a day or two and they will still have a number of questions to ask.

Also try jetboy, 0800 65 62 64 and ask for Tim. He works for John Baker Insurance who are insurance brokers. He got a good deal for me, and plenty of other KB's judging from all the past insurance threads...

Yeah Kiwibike is great. I just got mine sorted today for my new bike. Give them a ring at 0800 629 253. I got the one that included roadside assistance and trackdays included too. Much much cheaper than what AA was quoting me.

I am with State. But try Star, they have had brilliant reviews from everyone I know who is insured with them. I will be swapping to them shortly.

I'm insured with Star Insurance through Kiwibike - best of both worlds really!
