    V & H Cruzer Pipes for Shadow 2007

    Hi Folks
    My first post but I have been enjoying this forum for a few weeks now.
    I have ordered these pipes for my bike minus the Jet Kit.
    Mechanic and some other advise suggested the kit most likely would'nt be necessary, and if it was would be easy to carry out at some other stage.
    Just wondering if any one else has carried out this mod on a 2007 Aero.
    If not, I will take note of how things work out and report back after a bit of run time.
    With a bit of luck the pipes should arrive over the next few weeks.

    I put straightshots on my VL800 without any other mods, it has helped my bottom end but top end seems a little strained, if that makes any sense.

    Not quite the same, but Suzuki Sportszone down here had an two 50cubic cruisers, one with V&H pipes... both ended up sounding the same really. The difference was so little, Im not sure there was a difference.

    My M50 was quiet as with standard pipes, and offensively loud with V&H Cruzers, so much I took it to Wgtn M/Cs who put a small pipe with a single flute in each "silencer". Now it will get WoFs, sounds great but won't wake entire suburbs. In terms of performance, only a dyno would tell you as sound makes such a difference when testing subjectively. The standard system is so large and well designed, I very much doubt there's a substantial performance boost with the V&H pipes. They are much lighter though, and about 500m shorter.

    Only my second post.... You won't need the jet kit for pipes alone - only if you modify the intake at all for more air. I put Cruzers on my VN800 a couple of years ago, and then re-jetted later on when I gutted the intake, for a huge increase in power.

    I did have to modify the baffles in the Cruzers to keep the noise down, and added some of these to the V&H ones. Made them quieter and deeper sounding, and got rid of the decelleration "blat" entirely. I got mine from eBay and welded them in.

    Cruzers are a great pipe for the mid-sized bikes like ours... You'll love them.

    Well, the new pipes arrived.
    Even though I am a better woodworker than mechanic it still only took me 2 hours to install these pipes. So they must be easy!
    The new sound is amazing, loud and throaty but certainly not that loud that they would bother anyone.
    When you are winding it up on the road there is some good noise but there is absolutly no reason when driving in town/city that you can't travel with just a nice rumble thats not overbearing or too loud.
    All in all, a good type of exhaust system for a mid-range Cruiser.
    I'll run like this for a while but I don't think there will be any need to re-jet.
    I have a service coming up so will be able to get a more expert opinion on this matter.

    do the re jet!

    I put these pipes on my 2005 shadow and at the same time did the rejet and the K&N filter. All the documentation recommends that you do. you will be running lean and underpowered without the new jetting. The rejet kit (from dynojet) is cheap and well worth it.

    I got V&H slip ons for my S83. Ordered over the net and arrived within 7 working days. They were about half the price of what I would have paid here. Easy enough to fit and no subsequent problems. When i first fitted them I took the packing off the baffles (you will see what I mean when you get them) and ran it for a day - loud, but way too harsh. The packing went straight back in/on. Still very loud (can set off the occassional car alarm) but a more acceptable sound. Unsure if there is a noticeable power change. Yes I am pleased with them.

    Have not rejetted and as I understand unless the intakes are also modified this should not be necessary. Some slight blueing of the headers indicating it is running leaner. Have some K&N airfilters, but have not installed them. The power lift comes when the intakes and carbs are modified which should be done by a tuner with a dyno.
