Peeling graphics

I know this is a stupid thread, but my graphics keep peelin in the same place and it's pissing me off.

Has anyone had this happen, and managed to stick it back sucessfully? is so what did you use?

When they eventually peel off and you want to replace them get some acetone ( nail varnish remover will do from the girlfriend, wife or chemist! ) and clean off the area where your going to stick the graphic. use it sparingly on a cloth else the acetone will remove the plastic as well!!!. this will clean the area and hopefully the graphic will stick like buggery and only coming off if you scrape it off with some sharp implement or tree!

i got pissed with the set on my 426 and couldnt get replacments to go with the seat cover etc (would have looked odd if i had changed any part of it) any i cleaned it up acetone or brake clean will do the gave tank were it had peeled from and stickers a coat of F2 glue tapped it down for about an hour buggers never came off again and you can rub of any excess glue that oooze out

yep Bunnings you can get it in a spray can. Bloody handy!
I always have one in the cupboard. Just remember its a one chance glue (contact adhesive), so spray both surfaces, let it tack off, then you have to get it right. Its not hard but you just have to know you can't reposition it again and again.

bunnings i use the brush on thought it was a little cleaner less oooop over spray and if the graphic have been on a while even once you have cleaned there will be a kind a stain ( out line ) from the dirt you can applie the glue up to

If you do opt to remove graphics and put on new ones. Turps will remove the glue easy as then you need to wipe down with IPA (isopropyl alcohol solution) to remove the oil from the turbs on the surface.

Yeah that 'Desolvit' citrus cleaner is great for getting off the yucky gum of old glue (normal solvent softens it but it sticks to everything), but needs an alcohol clean off (brake clean or in a press meths). I've glued back on my Stomp tank grip stuff with Selleys All Clear.

This is actually a great adhesive for everything from bonding to fibreglass to backup for roadbike wheel weights.

Go to a signwriter and ask him to put clear vinyl (cut slightly larger) over the decals to keep them in place. It will do the trick until you are ready to get new ones.

The clear tape is a good idea, you can get stone guard from most bike shops for around $10.
The solvents you should use are Citrus delaminant or this other stuff called desol... both are expensive but will save you hours of cleaning from baked on decal residue... a hair drier can help to remove decals too.
