Today, I was following my standard commuting route home. I had started in the city, been along Tamaki Drive, up Cliff Road and had just made it on to Glover Road in St Heliers, when a cage came straight ahead through Springcombe road, failing to give way. I was just pootling along quite slowly, so avoiding the head-on was relatively easy, and both the car and my bike came to a halt facing each other. The cage was a taxi (unsuprisingly). I gave the driver a nasty look, and he apologised (I think he was apologising, he looked apologetic, but I couldnt hear him).
Now it gets funny.
A fellow afficionado of two-wheeled motorised transport going in the opposite direction had witnessed the dangerous manouvers made by the taxi driver, and got in front of the aforementioned vehicle, and by slowing down he bought the taxi to a halt. I saw this, and promptly u-turned to enjoy the show (I felt it unecessary to get involved, but necessary to be in a position to be able to step in if things got out of hand). The motorcyclist then proceeded to tear strips off the taxi driver for his dangerous driving, he then got back on his bike and pootled off, as did I.
I would just like to say that if the driver of the yellow GT250R (I know, doesnt narrow it down that much) is on this website, that was sooo awesome. Absolutely hilarious, I'm sure the driver had to go back to change his undies, and the passengers were probably unimpressed with the driver as well. In saying that, sometimes I think its just better to let it go. Riding angry can cause you to make mistakes, you shouldnt let the idiots get to you. Just laugh at them for their poor choice of transport and move on.
