    New O-ring chain

The hard of hearing have sent my new chain with to many links. I don't have a chain cutter, can I just use my nail punch without damaging the chain?

Use an angle grinder very carefully and nip the top off the pegs on the link and punch it apart. Take care you dont wana take a pinky off or take too many links out cause thats a real F*#kn pain

I brought a DID chain breaker when i first started riding bikes, the best investment i have done. Punches out pins rams them back in, crimps up links etc does it all. Do what chop says first or take the chain back to the shop and they should break it for you for free.

I found the same prob when I got my new chain, too many links. But thats how it came, looooooooooooooong. One thing I found with my DID chain is that when it goes over the front sprocket it sounds like a ecilop siren. And yes b4 anyone comments I replaced the sprockets at the same time. When I did the chain I used a grinding bit made of stone in the electric drill. Backyard stuff I know but it did the trick.
If you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning

Invest in a chain breaker,(cleander, tider, faster, and safer, thats just my 2 cents.
what are you going to use to squeeze, your links back together?

I thought that once I had ground the top off the peg and punched it through, I can just use the conecting link (with the snap/clip bit) to put the chain together.

    Is this wrong?

I'm also guessing the cain will stretch a bit on first few rides, so it would it be and idea to cut it tighter rather than loose if poss.

DID chain breaker again!!! squeezes the links back together again no fuss needed.
i used to use vice grips and plumbers wrenches just to get the link to squeeze up enough to put on the cir-clip on. but the chain breaker puts them back on as well (super easy) no cursing.
