You wouldn't happen to be talking about Eskdale Rd in Glenfield/Birkdale, would you?

When I was a younger youngster I went to school at Willow Park Primary. Living in a side street just past the chicanes and speed camera on Eskdale Rd, I used to love riding down that hill on my bike after school.

Twice I managed to set the camera off. Dicky little electronic speedo on my mountain bike showed 60kph+. It's a steep hill but I don't think I could pedal that fast these days

I'm pretty damn sure that the speed limit for cyclists is the speed limit.
Haven't heard too many stories about anyone getting a fine and believe me, there are quite a few cyclists out there who are capable of travelling ~50 km/h on the flat.

Trust me on the 40KPH dood. Saying that I have a scar on my face from doing 80+ on the flat (into the back of a parked car but it was in a dark spot and my eye's were watering it was cold and I'm sure I checked first...)

It is not on the LTSA site that I can find, and I assumed that cycles are governed by the posted limits.

Vainglorious insert: out of the Chilterns on the steep descent on the London-Oxford ride I was clocked at 109kph, mtb with 1.5" specialized slicks.

But that's nothing on the 130.36 km/h record for a bike on a flat without drafting (ie. following a car), 244.9kph (with drafting) or the downhill record (on ice) of 210.3kph official or unofficial record of 364 km/h

But back to the topic - no, however fast you go I doubt a speed camera ticekt will get you on a pedal cycle.

and whilst you are at it, why not drag your pants down and moon them as you speed by? ............ now THAT'd be a pic for that wall of theirs

    Got a reference for that?

I'm pretty sure there's nothing in the road code; I'd just assumed it was the same limit as (almost) everyone else.

Yeah I used to regularly draft trucks on my push bike. You can go as fast as they can because they can nearly pull you along so you only need to make up the extra. You usually needed a downhill to get you started because the truck doesn't really pull you along til its doing 60kmh. Hardest bit is that you still need to pedal fast enough to match the road speed. I did 115kmh drafting a van on the flat. With 53/11 gearing that was just over 240rpm.

Best downhill speed not drafting was 97kmh on a very steep hill near palmy north.

240 cadence sounds high, like, I'm not calling you a liar but..... kinda high! Sure you don't mean 140? I have done 130K's downhill with a 62-11, 26" rims.

Naked arse! Do you look through your eyes or are they painted on? If you have a detector you will have about half a kilometer (MINIMUM!) warning of one anyway.

62-11 - jeez, was that scraping the ground?!
I'm finding a 52-22 range very VERY hard at moment now I'm doing scenic drive again at the weekends
Oh for my lovely 44-34 range!

Haha! Yeah, it looked pretty massive. That was on a courier spec GT Mtn bike frame. My road bike has 53 - 13 and thats fine for the city - Whenuapai commute. We used to go bombing hils in the weekends so 5 or 6 guys geared up and trying to crack the hundy on hills 'round the place. Freaked a few people out!
