Question GNCC Matata round this Saturday

Any dirt division regulars going down to this?
    BuddyL? Cheese? Chop?
Bit of a long drive I believe heard variations from 2.5 to 3.25 hours. Anybody got an accurate figure?
Can't stay there Friday night so heading down really early Saturday as two of the kids are having a go and they start at 0900 sign on at 0800!

Note I also heard is very very slippey in the wet so guess we won't be going if its raining or been raining on the Friday.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!

Yeah its a bit of a haul, about 3 hours from Chowick. Too much of a haul for me for the chance of winning a cap. The track there gets real chopped up, but it is fun. Probably ok for the morning races because they groom it between events.
Good luck if you make the trip. The dust was real thick bulldust when I raced the six hours there earlier this year. Should be good at this time or year.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

Yeah i'm going down, takes 3 hours from howick, its a good track I raced it last year and I also rode there two weeks ago, the forecast is for a bit of drizzle but a little rain wont be to bad as alot of it is quite pumicey.

I ride there once a month. The surface is pumace Loam- Really forgiving, the ruts are very soft sided and easy to break out of. The terrain is not steep, many small stumps to watch for in the clear felled eucaliptus plantation. the pine section is wide and flowing with lots of jumps. big loop is around 25 km and ends with a section in the lower pines with lots of smooth river boulders about watermelon size set firmly into the ground and slippery. a couple of creek crossings that are piss easy just before the very small section of farmland, and down a big hill into the valley to finish. Wet or dry it is always a good ride and the family that own it really look after you!

I will be there taking photos- usually take about 200 and have them on sale at the end of the day, $20 buys the lot on CD in a High quality format

Do something spectacular and you WILL be photographed!.

Yep, left at 0500 on Saturday morning . After loading on the 5 bikes!
Arrived at burts farm at about 0830 just in time for the sign in for the kids. They had a brilliant time. Ace track. The 3 girls raced for the first time ever. The oldest came 9 in the womans and the the lad came 11 in the 10-11 class. so about mid field. the other two at the bottom of the table but they really enjoyed it.Think we had the only bit of sun in the area. Assumd Ak was wet for Sat as raining when we left.

Didn't know you were there dammad1. What class were you racing in? Did you do the woodhill round?

I went off in the rookies and got knocked off going down one the hills in a narrow bit. we ended up withe the handlebars tangled and both in a heap around the bikes in the bush. God knows why the guy was trying to overtake me there. He had plenty of chance just before on a wider bit but hey thats's racing. After that incident I was a bit bruised and the handle bars had a bout a 20 degree list to port!!!! So had to slow down a bit ( well thats my excuse) . tied to straighten in the pits but with little success. ( repair job at home)

second lap over the handle bars down one of the step slopes when the guy in front fell off!. Bike went down the slope and got tangled in a load of short willows took three guys and about 20mins to get it out!! so that was the end of that race. Reckon I could of done way better but just had bad luck on the day. Ended up about 45 of 56. At least I didn't break any limbs this time!

lucklily met a family from Thames we knew so rested there for the night nuturing the exahuastion and brusiing:
Still had a great time and met a few new faces.

Any one going to Maddix - Dammad1?
Might try and camp out down there as would be less tiring!!

I totally agree! awesome turnout - 232 riders. primo organisation and a top ride, some spectacular riding by the fearless teenagers and expert classes. Heaps of women involved and lots of family participation. here are one or two shots from the day....

Yeah I was there, I was in the rookies too I haven't seen the final results yet but after two laps I was looking good for a top 20 so hopefully I ended up somewhere around there which is better than I thought I would do as I am not paticually fit at the moment and am still getting used to the new bike.

I had to sart at the back as i didn't race at woodhill so I spent most of the first lap picking my way through the traffic and the dust was a bit tricky in some sections.

I'm planning on going to Maddix park but I heard its mostly clay so it will have to be semi dry as I hate riding on wet clay.
