You could always get a bike like mine, that ratted, people wouldn't even think of taking it for a joy ride.
Seriously though man, security is the starting point, if they can't steal it, they can't hold you to ransom. Bring on Fort Knox!!
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."
Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.
CAn't live life wondering about the "what if"
If that was the case you wouldnt even by riding your bike for fear of coming of etc.
Do waht make you happy, deal with the shit if it happens
Gold Diggers....like hookers just smarter
Like fireliv said, dont let someone make you live in fear.
"Better to die on your feet than live on your knees"
"Not one day that we are here on this earth has been promised to us, so make the most of every day as if it was your last, and every breath ,as if it were the same"
if you're truely connected to your steed, it will make its way back to you.
I just have to whistle and my fxr starts up, then rides itself to me.
People have extorted money from others for centuries. There was a case in the news the other day about dog ransom... the dog was actually called ransom. The cops set up a sting and nabbed the dirty thief when he came for the money.
Bikes would be no different. Another thing to steal... if you can sell it or flog off parts, why not go for a ransom? Plenty of scum out there always looking to make a dishonest buck. Sad world we live in.
if only it was like america and we had a god given right to defend our property![]()
Fully agree. So many stories about ppl that have done just that and ended up in court.
Can straight away think of a few:
- The idiot who walked in to a gunshop with a knife swinging and wanted to have a gun. Got shot by owners son, who ended up in court...
- The scum up north who were stealing a farmers 4w bike, he shot at them and got one or two. And ended up in court...
Re the cops not wanting to be part of the ransom demands: I can only relay what I have been told by the ones it happened to. But I know from first hand how burglaries are treated...
actually had something similat happen the other day myself.
Had my GSXR250 stolen from the Palms Mall, in Christchurch. Made a post on Sportsbike Forum, offering a reward for it if anyone found it, and a member of the forum (who had previously been kicked off Kiwibiker asked what the reward was, and said that he "Knew some people who know some people". not sure if this guy is just a bit of a cock, or knows something about these extertion schemes.
Either way, looks like my next bike will have to be chained up every time, with a couple of razor blades hidden around the throttle and clutch lever.
If it was only a few grand (I guess they want to make it 'easy' for you to pay). I would pay and let them go on their ways.
Then I would get the biggest, meanest, motherfuckers known to man and find the bitch who took my bike and make him pay back double.
Everyone has a point that they think 'this aint worth it' and payback. You just have to be willing to do things they wont.
a variation on the theme - this time steal your own bike and use it for defence:
