Thats the way to make money. No need to work anymore!!! Kidnap your own bike from your self and pay your self $1K. Do this each week and life will be sweet. Sure, you will make your own life hell and you need to find $1K from somewhere each week. But you don't care as you are OK, you have $1k to spend!!

May the bridges I burn light the way.

The rego/wof sitting in my bike right now expired 2005 - i call it police insurance. Cops bust some other schmuck other than me on the bike, do the routine check and hello hello we need to do a background check cos the rego and wof's expired. I carry wof and rego in my wallet.
A friend of the family had his bonnie returned to him after doing this.
I also hear the boy racers do it to their riced up cars.

Yep or a sparkplug hooked up, sitting in between the tank and seat.

Makes me sick that people threaten family etc, once you have kids the world is a different place. The idea of doing in the bad guys is awesome until you think that they might not care about the prospect who nicked or is holding your bike at all so blowing their head off wouldn't "get to them" like that. Except that you would have then insulted whatever gang they are from and they do take that quite badly.

I've been doing the same for 5 years, for two reasons. Firstly some mongrel kept lifting my reg and/or WOF of the harley when parked outside and unwatched, why I have no idea. Now these documents are permanently in my wallet. And secondly its a little insurance if it is pulled over with out-of-date reg and WOF.

It probably wouldn't get the bike back if snatched but it all helps!

All good - but only ever any good if YOU get to see those parts (or have really good detailed photos) again.

Bits like the above mean nothing to the guys doing a casual search warrant for something else - they may not even know of the bikes theft.

If they're specific aim is to look for you bike or parts then different story but they would need specific i.d. details '120 spoke s/s wheel' alone won't cut it - there are others out there.
120 spoke s/s wheel with 'C' engraved in specific places (or similar) will be a better bet.

If the cop does a check using the number plate and it IS currently registered and waranted then he very likely might not bother to stop it to check it.

The fact it is DISPALYING expired reg & wof will not exite him too much if a check shows they are both current - and it is current if what you say is true about carrying them in your wallet..

Now if you put a plate from another brand of bike and it has expired reg/wof on it.....

(Of course then you risk being pulled over yourself but a cunning man would have his proper plate velcro'd on over the 'other' plate and remove the proper plate and take it with him when he parked it up - hopefully not in a place where meter-maids abound)

Been there done that. And when the bike disappeared I was thinking: "OK, at least I have the wrong plate and old rego and WOF going for me..."

But sadly it backfired. The cops had taken the bike as it did not display the right plate, rego or WOF...

But this was not so much as a result of my pre-planning. It was a bike that had no rego, plate or WOF and I had fitted some old ones I had lying around as a temporary measure until I got the bike road legal.

But I would probably not risk having the bike be taken by the cops and have to track down there to retrieve it. A hassle. And could be expensive...

In a small place like NZ there is only so many 120 spoke s/s s/h wheels around. And the guys who would put something like that on their bike are counted on two hands. Why would you fit it? To stand out from the crowd, to show off at a show. Would be only a matter of minutes after you have first time shown off when someone say: "Hey, I know a guy that had a set of those ripped off..."

So the re-sale value of the bits drops. Sure, the bits can be shipped overseas. But for the average lowlife this is not an option. Too much hassle.

It is not a solution. But all helps. (And I like to show off too...lol)

But as I mentioned, in the kidnapping version it actually makes things even worse and they can ask for more $$'s...

I dont really think i will have that problem, i seem to get a REGO/WOF check every few months or so. Its kinda like the cops up here saying "Lucky S-O-B, i didnt have my radar on"

What surprises me is how people around here underestimate how bad the bad guys are, They don't give a shit about jail time and there is more of them then you.

A mate of mine had his car taken, He was notified by phone that they had it and wanted 3 grand, He told them to get fucked, 5 minutes later they were in his house, Stabbed him in the gut 5 times with a spike, gang raped and bashed his wife on the bed beside him, raped him, then dragged him under his house to die.

Then they drove off in the car which was found abanded a few days later.

They lived, damaged beyond belief, No one was ever charged, They victim was considered to be an associate of the people involved.

To incinuate that someone is a child of gang rape is just crass and tasteless. Get a joke book if you need some help or ideas. Red rep coming your way, just in time for christmas. Don't spout the "open forum" crap either, there's jokes and there's plain disgusting. If you think rape is funny I'd really like to meet you. If you just tried to make a joke and your mantal capacity is just all outta whack please take your pills and apologise to Mark.
