Just as an afterthought,i have a left hand side upper fairing in the garage that has done the rounds of some of the supposed best painters around,in the end i gave up and bought a new one from japan......later on when i bought the undertray and found that place in the uk i got a local guy to paint the undertray and its identical to the factory stuff. As you can see in profile pic.

Got a reply from Bike-paint their records don't go back that far. Also tried Kawasaki NZ, couple of mates, oldKawa man, Z power and google searchs. So looks like its an eye match job. I'm told the colour varied quite a bit from the factory anyway on the early Z'ds. Probably just the Z900's though every Z1R I've seen looks the same to me.
Oh Well thanks for your suggestions!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

    Ask around.
I was getting my Thunderbird touched up, it's metalic blue and not the easiest to get a good match.

Anyway, my mate who owns the paint shop came up with a dude who had a digital camera and laptop, he took photos, hooked the images to the laptop and went off back to town.
The computer told him the formula to get a perfect match and he shipped the paint to my mate who then touched-up the the car.

Touch up was perfect - (and I'm fussy.)
