just a bit of a warning for any of you Buell owners with a sidestand that does NOT have the circlip on the end of pivot bolt that holds the sidestand in place... earlier than about 07 models (I think)
CHECK IT HASN'T BACKED OUT OF THE THREAD AT ALL
Cos if it does it has the potential to snap and then you can guess what might happen... luckily it snapped on me while I was riding, and not on the stand.
Unfortunately you cannot replace the pivot bolt for the earlier models (altho this took a week before the local dealer had it figured out and eventually told me, next time will find out myself a whole lot quicker!) -and the new design doesn't fit the old sidestand, you need to replace the whole shebang.
After searching a few forums I have found that it has happened to quite a lot of bikes so worth a mention on KB.
The pic shown is of the old style and now obsolete, i.e. you cant buy a replacement if it does break.
So anyone out there with a Buell (think it mostly the XB models), just have a check and makes sure the bolt is well into the thread.
Oh yeah about $140 for the whole shebang... sigh... better than the damage if it fell over i guess!
