Lot of bikes on road...North Canterbury

well....my wifes birthday today so took her up to Waipara Springs Vineyard for lunch...Food was fantastic, A+++ to the hosts there....
Coming back I was amazed at the number of bikes on the road...The cafe just south of Amberly was chocka with bikes...and 3 or 4 trikes....
What was going on today? I know some bikes will be going to the Nelson rally, but was there something else, or is summer just bringing em out of the woodwork???

Ah, so that's why I saw so few bikes on my way back from Akaroa. Was quite surprised... cracking day like today I expected to see quite a few more out.
