Regarding the student not "understanding" that he had ben forbidden to drive, if the other boys are anything like me (and the others I know) that student would have been left in no doubt that if he drive before getting a licence he would be in trouble AND any car he was driving while he was forbidden would be impounded - regardless if it is his car or somebody elses.

I get anybody I forbid to drive to repeat what I have told them so I can see they understand the consequences.

Well, since he's here on a student visa, why not just kick the little shit out of the country and never let him back?

because Im not talking about this particular case. Im talking about the other hundreds of cases and sentencing in general.

When this government promised 'tougher sentencing' I did not know that they actually meant it for speeding offences and not the criminal offences.....

And, for Heaven's Sake, please somebody remove that stupid bail system so that criminals really spend the time behind bars instead of just 30% of the sentence time!

I think that when you ride around areas like that you have to be pretty much expecting the people to try to drive into you. I've ridden my bike to Auckland Uni lots of times, if I didn't ride like I thought they'd try to hit me then I'd be a statistic too.

Being in a situation around that area where you get a chance to brake heavily and yet are still going fast enough to cause death.....

To put it politely - Fuck this country

Sorry, but i owe this country nothing (except a large student loan). So when im done with my degree - im gone, and i suggest if anyone else hates the attitudes here they do so too.
If someone wants me to explain the indepth reasons of why this country sucks, so we can delve into the mess. Im happy to start a thread (just message me)
Oh some aisans dont get a fair deal here either (no im not aisan, my g/f is). This country's government in a joke to the rest of civilizaton.
Im gonna miss all the nice points to it though, esp the riding

You're in for a big surprise fella.

NZ is about as close to fair society as you will find. It's why we're struggling. Racism everywhere else I've visited or lived is dealt out with baseball bats, guns, and knives, not name calling and un-PC comments by vote catching Opposition MPs.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

I think there are some things that I don't like about NZ, but mostly it's pretty good. I'd be interested if you did start a thread and explained what you mean about our country sucking.

the you'll be flying back into auckland - over the hauraki gulf - in a few years thining 'fuck it's nice to be home'. it's so green/unpolluted/basic/quiet/homelike etc. then you'll realise that living in london/manchester/LA/new york etc is fun, but there's no place like home. there's no place like home. there's no place like home. (don't forget to tap your heels.......)

Yea along with administration costs, if you are not paying it electronically - don't forget the 0.45 cent stamp & 0.10 envelope every month for the next 24 months - it can be the same when people have "over received" WINZ benefits as well -

give me an hour in a semi dark room with a small portable generator with jumper cables, some of those little wooden kebab sticks, both of the Auckland yellow pages and a rubber hose, and I will have him reciting the English dictionary in no time.
Hehehe, I would like to see that. And help!! All that they have done now is opened a door to all the bloody non-english speaking people to understand that if you aren't competant in speaking english you can get away with killing an innocent person.

Should have strung him up by his scrotum in a tree full of hungry vampire bats and beat him with barbed wire till he recited shakespear and then beaten him harder because I dont like shakespeare!!
