An interesting research report

Found this today, don;t know if its previously been posted. This report was conducted after a number of fatalities occurred along a stretch of highway in the States. Its conclusion was to remove the cable barrier in favor of concrete. This report in particular m,entions how an SUV crossed this barrier and exploded when it collided with an on coming bus!!!!

It does also say that these barriers are good but there needs to be proper research in to their effectiveness with modern SUV's and setting parameters for when and where they are appropriate as they are not suitable in all situations. It also states that these barriers should be at least 14 feet from the lane line

Thanks for this, Fub@r. I've posted it up on the CheeseCutter website. Made for interesting reading, even though the indpendent expert chose not to consider the danger these barriers pose to motorcyclists.
