Ouch! Dropped the bike...

... off at Mt Eden Motorcycles this morning for 24k service + 2 new tyres, and a reminder of how expensive this biking lark is. Won't have much change out of $800, I expect.
But the walk into town was pleasant: blue sky, only a slight breeze, and that wonderful early morning smell of roasting coffee and fresh bread.
Not to mention the prospect of a long weekend with more blue skies and some new tyres to scrub in...
Life is good.

Hey what generally happens at 24K thats above and beyond normal service stuff .. valve adjustments? anything else?

I enjoy the walk - it's all downhill. This afternoon depending on what time the bike's ready I'll either walk up (means I won't need to do my 15 minutes on the treadmill at the gym tonight...) or hop on a bus.
I must admit that although in the past I've said some complimentary things about scooters, the prospect of actually riding one, and possibly being seen and recognized...

I understand it's a fairly major one, with valve adjustment, new plugs and some other stuff which I can't remember...

Yep done work on my bike they said $1400 ended up at $2000. Dam but hey shes going like a dream now..$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Allowing at least $500 for a pair of tyres, your servicing costs aren't too bad. I paid $240 for my 18,000 km service at Colemans.

What's your choice in tyres this time?

I shortlisted Avon Azaro, Bridgestone 020 and Metzeler MZ4 (which are what I've got at the moment) but after a chat with the guys at Mt Eden decided to go for Pirelli Sports Demon.
BTW on last weekend's ride I increased the pressure to 39 rear (was at 37 although Yamaha specify 36) and felt much better despite the lack of tread...
