Its funny, you don't know what you're getting till you got it eh? ...hmm that don't make sense. Maybe I mean you don't know what you had until you get...the ... next bike. Gah.

Of course you think the 'pril is crap for commuting. The hairnet is brilliant for commuting on, around town etc, simply brilliant.

Correctly sprung, for the tight stuff (ie, speed not coming into it) you'd be surprised just how quick a hairnet is, when fanging round corners, vs sportbikes.

Correctly sprung my left nut! But he does know how fast it goes round corners, I showed him yesterday.

I've made a very good deal on a 99 RSV1000. Now the bike in question is quite well known as a race bike which I'm very happy about as it means that the thing has been tinkered with and is a very well sorted piece of kit. I also know how fast it can lap Manfield

I have ridden a 919cc Hornet for the last (nearly) 2 years/43,000 kms... and I like to ride quick as I can. It was time for a sprotsbike. Unfortunately this review is a little biased as I have not spent more than an hour on a sportsbike before having to hand it back. Fuck-it-all.

Due to a lack of photos of me on bike, heres a mock-up (cheers V!)

This bike pretty much sucks to commute on. I have a dodgy neck and its kinda aggravating that a little, but it will get better as I get used to it. Has stock can on it too so the bike don't sound that flash. Sounds like a tractor thats run out of oil... I'm not going to make kids squeal and Mums take shelter with this puppy.

Being a nekid-fan for so long (3 years/60,000kms!) it has been easy to pour scorn on SB riders. Ridiculous crouching position, can't be comfortable, think they are soo flash with their .... fairings! Gah. Get out onto the motorway and the wind noise is 2x worse than on the Hornet, head bobbing around a bit... more comfy but still not sold on the SB thing. SB might be drier in the wet... hmmm

Get to go for a good fang over the Takas with two riding mates tonight and now it makes A LOT OF SENSE. This bike is awesome! I was sure that I was going to find it heavy and hard to move around, esp missing the MX bar leverage on the Hornet, but I was wrong. So wrong. I'm sure a lot of this I could put down to the forks being pushed waaaay up through the top-yoke (+30mm?). A very steep steering angle means that this bike tips in VERY easily... its a bit extreme apparently but I am loving it. We will bring it back up a bit when we do the fork seals soon... but I'm a bit reluctant.

The bike is soo confidence inspiring but I'm not clever enough to know why... but that doesn't matter. In the corners I feel soo at home on this thing and now realise that I have been riding my Hornet for so long like I should ride this bike. I don't know what it is, but I wasn't all that nervous about pushing the bike into the corners like I always was on the 'Hoenet' (its new name apparently). Its much easier to move around on than the 'net, its a bit narrower and that feels good... I'm kind of bracing myself on the tank more...or something, but more importantly I'm not pre-occupied with pulling myself forward like I was on the Honda (heh heh Hondas ) trying to sub-consciously get myself over the front wheel.

Congrats Skelstar on the move to a euro machine.
Good to hear that you are enjoying it so much - that is, after all, the whole point of buying a bike.

Was that you I passed in opposite directions tonight and the bottom of the takas hill? White helmet with red stripes right?

Your being a nekkid fan has long been a concern of the local population in your area, for Christ's sake close the bloody curtains would ya!

For what it's worth my 916 had a tall screen on it like the racebikes which are great for aerodynamics when you are tucked in at 250km/h but lousy at normal riding speeds and position. All the wind blast was directed at the head/neck area with a fair amount of buffeting. Reverting to a stock lower screen was way more comfortable as the air flow was smoother around the head/neck and the wind against the chest took a bit of weight off the wrists especially at highway speeds.

Luvverly bike mate, Rachael W is gonna be all over you like a rash when she finds out you'll have to beat her off with a stick!

I'm pretty sure the head buffeting is just an un-fortunate clash in bike and helmet shape. I never had a problem wearing my zeus helmet, but my HJC was wuite bad on that bike.

Anyway, I can't wait to go on a long trip on this thing. Apparently I look hot on this bike (said by a chick thank u) so I can't wait for my baby to see me on it too ...and maybe have some 'new bike/new house' sex?

Oh, we all know its tough to compete with other threads these days... what with youTube embedding and pictures of KB derrières everywhere so I have included a picture of the lovelly Rachel Weisz.

    Rachel Weisz Ladies and Gentlemen!

One last thing!!! ...had the pleasure of seeing my old bike being ridden by its new master tonight. Have to say its a weird sensation watching it being ridden better than you, by a more capable rider... kinda like seeing your best mate with you ex g/f and she has an enormous smile on her face and is having trouble walking straight
    Is that an XXXXL Shoei?

Did a commute from Masterton this morning... this bike is MADE for this kind of commute. Friggin awesome. Not sure if I could do it every day but by far the worst part is the friggin last 10kms of 50km/h zones eh. Been fairly short of sleep since getting it so didn't feel real flash riding on the hill at stupid-o'clock this morning, and I think the chain needs tightening.... hmm..

Have to say, one struggle with this bike, prob mostly because of the engine braking, is getting on the throttle early as you get into the corner. Its a bit twitchy and I reckon not something you want to be sorting out mid-corner. All part of the fun though eh?

Yeah, I did think that the bike looked a bit dodgy!
Problem with irony is that it can be hard to tell if people don't get it or just are very good at it.

Gratz on the buy! I'm envious - don't even know if mine can pull a wheelie at all...
