Throwing the question open to the unwashed masses - what do I buy?

Right, not to put too fine a point on it, gixxers hurt my legs after 3 hours or so. Too many years of squatting and deadlifting and then cycling. I am very inflexible.

It's gotten to the point where I can't be arsed doing day trips up and down the countryside, even when I have very good reason to do them, because I know I'll be in a foul mood afterwards.

I still end up going, but, you know. The joy just isn't there.

A quick spin on Finn's Brutale the other day confirmed my suspicions about what sort of bike would make me happy.

I can't afford a Brutale, so what should I buy?

Hypothetical for the moment. Let's say the budget's about $10K. Give me some ideas. I just want something that goes fast, handles well and doesn't hurt. Not a tubby tourer, though.

    Speed Triple?

    Bandit?

    Fazer?

    (gulp)... Hornet?

If your legs are hurting on a sportsbike, then buy a cruiser.

That way you can stretch your legs out the whole time on the ride...

    Think of the comfort.......

But...but...it's so very entertaining following you when you're wriggling around!

Ok, more seriously...I reckon the Speed Triple would suit you to a T. 007XY had one when we met, and he still regrets selling it. Besides, the 1050 can become in no time and with a little bling a really gorgeous Street Fighter taht's really horny to look at...

take one for a spin if you haven't already!

    How about a Kwaka Z1000?
They look really good and apparently go really nicely.
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."

Tried it, didn't like the buzzy engine or the way it handled.

The one you can afford that you like best obviously. I see a good excuse to go out and visit every bike shop in Auckland and take there precious demonstrators out for a spin. Should be fun!
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

    Yup.

Perhaps I should have entitled this thread "Talk me out of buying a Speed Triple if you can, motherfuckers".

How many time do I have to say it?

    We're idiots. Don't ask us.

By my Zed with Ohlins and the Micron and the DNA and the Traxxion Dynamics fork springs and the pack rack (with grab bar).

Oh yeah, I should have mentioned.

    No Zeds.

[Edit: As stated above, I didn't like riding the Z1000, and the 750... well... it's just, you know? Like a really nice chick who is just a bit too unfortunately ugly to date.]
