... I've got another bike!
Disclaimer: this thread will not be discussing our arses, dickheads in pubs, depression, littering, bitchy attitudes, politics or fucking cakes! Its about bikes (happy scummy?).
I've made a very good deal on a 99 RSV1000. Now the bike in question is quite well known as a race bike which I'm very happy about as it means that the thing has been tinkered with and is a
very well sorted piece of kit. I also know how fast it can lap Manfield
I have ridden a 919cc Hornet for the last (nearly) 2 years/43,000 kms... and I like to ride quick as
I can. It was time for a sprotsbike. Unfortunately this review is a little biased as I have not spent more than an hour on a sportsbike before having to hand it back. Fuck-it-all.
Due to a lack of photos of me on bike, heres a mock-up (cheers V!)
This bike pretty much sucks to commute on. I have a dodgy neck and its kinda aggravating that a little, but it will get better as I get used to it. Has stock can on it too so the bike don't sound that flash. Sounds like a tractor thats run out of oil... I'm not going to make kids squeal and Mums take shelter with this puppy.
Being a nekid-fan for so long (3 years/60,000kms!) it has been easy to pour scorn on SB riders.
Ridiculous crouching position, can't be comfortable, think they are soo flash with their .... fairings! Gah. Get out onto the motorway and the wind noise is 2x worse than on the Hornet, head bobbing around a bit... more comfy but still not sold on the SB thing. SB might be drier in the wet... hmmm
Get to go for a good fang over the Takas with two riding mates tonight and now it makes
A LOT OF SENSE. This bike is awesome! I was sure that I was going to find it heavy and hard to move around, esp missing the MX bar leverage on the Hornet, but I was wrong. So wrong. I'm sure a lot of this I could put down to the forks being pushed waaaay up through the top-yoke (+30mm?). A very steep steering angle means that this bike tips in VERY easily... its a bit extreme apparently but I am loving it. We will bring it back up a bit when we do the fork seals soon... but I'm a bit reluctant.
The bike is soo confidence inspiring but
I'm not clever enough to know why... but that doesn't matter. In the corners I feel soo at home on this thing and now realise that I have been riding my Hornet for so long like I
should ride this bike. I don't know what it is, but I wasn't all that nervous about pushing the bike into the corners like I always was on the 'Hoenet' (its new name apparently). Its much easier to move around on than the 'net, its a bit narrower and that feels good... I'm kind of bracing myself on the tank more...or something, but more importantly I'm not pre-occupied with pulling myself forward like I was on the Honda (heh heh Hondas

) trying to sub-consciously get myself over the front wheel.
