Picked up a brand new R6 (Pics)

Hey guys....been awhile. Had a career change so New Zealand got put on hold which is why I havnt bothered logging on lately. See I WAS coming back to NZ and got all hot and bothered by the prospect of living in Christchurch again.....oh well.....its gonna be a few years before I can get back there now.

Anyway....so the career change does have a silver lining.....more $$ for toys!!!!

Sold the Honda. Bought myself a brand new Yamaha R-6 which I've always wanted. Here is a pic. (hope you like).

So far all I have right now are stomp grips on the tank for added grip. Frame sliders (no cut), flush mounts, fender eliminator kit, HID's are ALL on order or have arrived. Only thing I cant decide on is a pipe. Any help folks????? Waiting on 600 mile service (on wednesday) to get it all done hehe. So far I have 300 miles on it. Got a trip planned to the Blue Ridge Parkway and THE DRAGON to get the other 300 in before then.....mwuhahahahahah.

    Check out http://www.r6-forum.com/

My choice on pipe is the Racefit MotoGP Growler.

My only question is why not an '08? I've heard they are somewhat better a road bike than the 06/07

hehehe, just registered over at the R-6 forum but Im currently waiting in the que for the mods to verify

Funny you should mention it "R6 Kid" but the Racefit Growler is actually the ONLY aftermarket pipe for the R-6 I like. Great minds think alike I guess...or is it small minds seldom vary?? . Its actually starting to piss me off. I really dont like the aftermarket pipe options for this bike.....Cant find one that tugs the old heart strings the right way.

As to your question about why not a 2008.....because the only 08 they had out is the yellow with black flames (its US spec only I think) and I didnt like it. The only 08 I would have gone for is the liquid silver one (I think this is a US spec color too) but they arnt getting those for another month or so. This particular 07 was my favorite color anyway. The third and final reason:

I got this R6 for $7,850 inlcuding tax, tags, and documentation fee's. Basically I got it brand new for dealer cost b/c it was one of three 07's they hadn't sold yet and they were trying to dump them.

Here is another pic for you:

What that means is I get to ride it around for a year and then sell it for what I bought it for when I move up to a 1,000. Right now Im thinking I like the new Aprilia V4. Yeah....that sounds tasty.

Total list of mods planned/on order:

    1. Renthal grips
    2. Fender eliminator kit
    3. Proton flush mounts
    4. pipe (right now thinking Racefit growler but still undecided)
    5. Puig racing screen
    6. Shogun "no cut" (meaning they dont cut the fairing to instal them) frame sliders with bar ends and spools
    7. Yamaha rear seat cowl
    8. Removal of the pillion pegs (I dont take passengers anyway)
    9. new (better) tires ounce I get done with the stock "break in" tires.
    10. marchesini wheels or just powder coat the ones I have in some color (maybe red....blue.....christ I dont know)
    11. Pazzo racing levers

and thats prolly it........by then I'll be ready to move on to my next dream bike...the Aprilia V4....which they better fuckin' make and sell to joe public!!!!!

Yeah, I'm in LOVE with this bike. Took it out on the twisties earlier today and ended up in Virginia. In case you have no idea where Virginia is....thats the next state up from NC. Actually rode out to Virginia International Raceway (http://virclub.com/) which is where Im going to be for track school over the summer. You can rent out ZX6R's and become a licensed racer. Im not actually planning to use the racing license........doing it just for fun.

I'm so damn lucky to have VIR, The Dragon, and the Blue Ridge Parkway all within about 1-3 hours riding.

Madandy: Can't really say much about my new line of work......it requires me to STFU when people ask. Sorry.

What Im looking for in terms of a tail tiddy is something with a cleaner look........kinda like flush mounts.

I want integrated turn signals in the rear to replace the holes where Im going to remove the pillion pegs.....kinda similar to the proton flush mounts for the front turn signals.......thats what I really want. Anybody make something like that??????????

Thanx Puddycat........you know I actually looked at an '04 R-6 awhile ago. Sharp looking bike and here in the 'Sates you can get great deals on them these days. Alas, the dealer practically gave me an '07 so I had to bite.

I'd give almost anything to take an R-6 to a track day in NZ. I dont even care what sort of tracks you have.....just to be back in NZ again. ARGH!!!!!!

also termigoni do a very similar pipe.

Either way you'll want to get a Y-pipe to remove the cat converter and open up some real scream!
