Wow I'm not sure which is more frustrating.

Reading through 15 pages of unrelated gob shite

    or

Still not finding out who it was and whether they got caught drawn and quartered.

Or as patrick says "what bike", those dunkin dohnut stands are hard to track down sometimes.

    Hows this for math...

"cop chased a stolen car til the dumb arsed thief crashed it in new Market....blah blah..." (everything else above applies......)

Then the dumb arse who ran gets the whole bill.... sorted!!!!! (At $5 per week from the dole for the next 17 trillion years....)

Somehow I don't think the wife of the guy killed would see it quite as "sorted".

Yeah, fair enough. After all, maths is far more important than human life.

And thats the best answer you can come up with.
The person doing the runner is defineatly at fault , but when th police chase that person and dont back off when it gets out of control then that cop must take a portion of the blame, because simply put if the cop backs off a life can be saved , if you cant see that then your a bit fucken simple

Not necessarily - idiot behind wheel of said speeding vehicle sees the police back off, thinks 'woo hoo, I got away with it, I can drive like a cock all the time and nobody can do anything'.

Continues to drive like a cock, without consequences (cos once he's gone, the police can't track him down, say), kills someone else as a result.......and the police get hung, drawn and quartered over the fact that they did nothing to stop said cock before he went and killed someone.

It's not saving a life, it's simply delaying the inevitable.

If you run, you SHOULD be chased and stopped right there and then. If you rely on the 'catch them later' philosophy, you run the risk that a lawyer will argue that it wasn't this person driving the vehicle, or some other bullshit technicality will get them off scot free - free to drive like a cock all over again. It's unfortunate if someone gets hurt in the process of a chase, but the fault lies with the person who chose to run, not the police.

NZ doesn't seem to make enough use of roll out road spike mats tho (I forget what they're called) - they would surely help bring some of these high speed chases to an early and safe end.

while i do agree, spiking tyres has caused nasty accidents in the past.

dipshit doing the runner really should have stopped before it got to that stage though, and by running he clearly didn't give a shit about his or anyone else's safety

My best answer?????????? Was there a question??????????????

Sure, I can see that, which is why pursuits get called off so often these days. If you can't spell, then I guess you're the one that is a bit fucken simple????

Good call, but at the moment, spikes can not be used for anything over 100kmph, motorbikes or trucks.

When it is getting "untidy" the pursuit is called off. Sometimes, just sometimes, it gets untidy just that one time...

This type of thing has been argued many a time. For retards like Solly, Its the cops fault, never the fleeing driver.... Go figure.

Well, this is a tricky one... I've already posted in the past saying how pissed off I would be if someone fleeing from the cops hurt someone I care about.

On the other hand, as a poker player, I have to say that if you are doing over 150, then you get no judge, no jury, just roadside loss of licence and bike, etc etc etc.

But if you just crank it up a bit, make the 150 into 220 then its got to be better than 10:1 that you "get out of jail free". Cos chances are that you wont crash at 220. Lots of us do it all the time at track day. Chances are the cop will radio in that you are doing 140, and quietly get lost in your dust.

So to get done you have two choices.

    1. Stop and face the music. Best choice, but 100% chance of losing licence, bike impoundment and a long walk home.

    2. Gas it up.
You might crash. But if you dont let the adreniline pump, you just ride hard, you won't.

Even if you have your number plate read, you get to keep your bike (assuming you don't take it to your rego address.)

And you get to deny it all to a judge.

Maybe people run because the penalities are now out of touch with the crime.

All law enforcement boils down to a type of cost - benefit equation. So more serious offences cost the loser more. But they cost the police more to prove, as there is more at stake.

So it comes as no surprise to me, that if the penality is distorted massively - to the point where suspension of the normal rules of innocence till proven guilty etc has occured that some will choose their own ability as a rider as the true judge.

I even confess to doing the maths myself. If just a few klicks fast I will stop. But if going seriously fast, the traffic is a bit heavy, its dark, I've got a good fuel level, and the road is dry... stopping to get a walk home free card would not be my first choice.
