When younger I found that bike riding was all about getting there as fast as possible, as I have gotten older it has changed and now it is more about the journey and the freedom of riding.


Welcome to approaching old age. Some of us are there already we just havent realised it yet.

Or it could be that, as we get old, there's not so much time left, so you have to cram in as much as possible - and, we've seen all the scenery, anyway, the skylines, the sunsets, the fluffy sheep in paddocks - gets boring after awhile..........now.....where's that throttle again.......

Whilst on my way North several days ago, something clicked with my riding.
Due to several reasons I've been riding a LOT slower than what I have in my recent past but have grown to enjoy it,albeit on a different level.
It's an odd feeling but one I've been waiting for for quite some time and I had been trying to slow my road riding for a fair while but for whatever reasons it all just came together.
Don't get me wrong,there will no doubt be occasions that a genuine good squirt etc but for the most part it's done and dusted.

BTW...no I haven't joined the fluro vest brigade...few years to go yet

Its about the scent of roses Chris! We all need to take the time to smell them. Congratulations, enjoy your new riding experience, you wont regret it I promise!

Never have or would ride at 10 1/10ths...that's just f'n stupid to do on the roads.
Just got sick of having to give it serious fang to achieve my desired buzz so have been trying the slower thang...and that's when It happened

[B]LOL...no not "slow" Not positive but at the time I was just enjoying smoothing along in my own version of motorcycling heaven. Whatever the trigger was I'm happy.

What am I enjoying about it? I get to see so much more...it's a different fun factor too.

I reached that point nearly a year ago,...when I purchased my Guzzi V11.
Didn't see the need for ZX-10 power anymore, cruising along with a lazy v-twin is what I enjoy the most.
However, I'm not quite ready for the heated grips yet.....like the Italian electrics would cope with them......
