Hey all im going to check out a cbr250rr on thursday hopefully. Can anyone give me a list of things to check and how (if not obvious)

This will be my first roadbike, have a general idea about bikes and mechanics.

    Hey man,

Have a google... I came across some really thorough pre-buy checklists a while back.

Sorry I can't remember the links, but there is heaps of stuff out there.

Its not a bad idea to know the specs of the bike either (if you haven't already got 'em.

Start with the general condition, chains, sprockets, engine etc, then start looking at the little things,
I can't recall if these have upside down forks or not but if the forks are really clean I would take a good close look at the seals, grab the front brakes and work the suspension up and down a few times and see if there is any sign of fluid, been caught out with a bike that the seller had made a point of wiping away the seepage, missed the leaky fork seals, turned out the fork was pitted and needed replacing

When comparing the distance the speedo shows against the bike, look for the wear patterns around the gear and brake levers as well as the hand grips

    Good luck with the purchase
If you can't be good, be good at it

Looks quite tidy - how much did that set you back?

Congrats! Welcome to KB and two wheeled freedom! Only... don't poke your fingers through the bars, some of the specimens bite.

Yeah Its pretty tidy. No dents, one or two marks on it but its not brand new eh? Just paid a bit over 4k for it. Which i think is fairly reasonable for it.
    Do people modify these?

I own one of those, they are a real weapon in the tight stuff!

    Mods you can do

    exhaust - full system
    pod filters instead of airbox
rejet carbs to suit airbox and or exhaust
    big sprocket

thats all you need to do as far as go faster mods but there is a few more here

    Keep it EZ bro.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot
