Fuck me, I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that there's motorcyclists out there that have "favourite stretches of straight road". I mean, WTF???

Straight roads are a fact of life in canterbury. perhaps i misunderstood the tone of this thread. i thought it was merely hinting at a place where a rider, if they were inclined, were able to explore various levels of performance on a straight piece of road.
To anyone that ever told you you’re no good… They’re no better.

This thread is about one aspect of riding, my bike does both, sorry bout yours
You love straights as much as corners?

    What's your big sportsbike?

Are there only two aspects to motorcycle riding? Sounds pretty easy to master

I truly enjoy motorcycling. Both of its aspects.

Pull ya farkin head in clown. If I knew this was going to be a pissing party about who "gets" motorcycling & who doesn't I would of bought my formal cod piece

I suppose the others that have posted are also aren't true bikers either?

JR you just showed yourself to be a complete & utter twat with that post sorry mate so much so that it is possible that it is just a troll because in all honesty anyone who truly believes that someone who enjoys straights AND corners doesn't get motorcycling would have to be a bit of moron, I would expect that kind of statement from SM or Zero brain cells, not you.

ps: I would be well advised? lol

Tis a weird concept to grasp isn't, I mean fancy anyone on a bike wanting nice smooth, safe roads to ride on, who would of thought

ps: you have some magic stretches round your area

We are blessed here in Taranaki with a great mixture of awesome twisties & a few good straights. There was no hidden meaning/agenda with the thread was simply asking the question where peoples fav straight bits of road are & why they like them. Always gunna be morons that will attempt to derail a thread with utter bollocks

Everytime Im on a straight empty road it makes me think If I was in a car right now I could be doing the same thing in more comfort.

The only time straights are good are when you get to pass people or when you need to get somewhere as quickly as possible. But neither reason is good enough for me to have a favourite piece of straight road.

OK, I'll address this seriously instead of just poking Boob with a stick.

We shouldn't be talking about straight roads like this. Not really. Because we all know what happens on straight roads with two wheels and 100+hp, don't we?

    Unspeakable naughtiness. That's what.

Straight roads are only fun if:

    A. You have a Harley, or

    B. You're riding at eekity hundred and plentyseven kilometers per hour.

Need I remind y'all that the Public Eye is upon us, these days? And that it might be wise to maintain an appropriate projection of sobriety and law-abidingness?

It's a semi-unwritten almost-rule - you don't write publically about significantly exceeding the speed limit.

It may happen... I couldn't possibly comment. But it is not a topic that stands up well to public scrutiny.

    This is my point.

But... but... I thought getting in a 'yo momma' meant that I'd won.

Obviously this issue has gone beyond sensible debate, and must now be settled with cream pies at dawn.

    Any volunteers?
