Not til she moves up there...
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
we will remember them
Stay calm, Tonto. Methinks many wagons come this way...
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
we will remember them
it is 9pmish.....hope you are having a shower, or eating an orange, or walking down the road, or....well done for getting through till now smoke free. You know of course that putting it up here makes it our business to support you eh? Maybe you can help me when I give up the baccy for good?
Well i went out and bought the book today, the one that everyone swears by.
I'm nearly there and plan on finishing it tonight. If you can get past 3 weeks apparently, then the addiction and poisons will have gone.
My days of being a smoker end today.
Just DO IT
:slap:
I don't know about three weeks but if you want to get rid of the toxins really fast go on one. Fasting is not for the faint hearted but after three days you will know all about withdrawal symptoms. The first day you will get massive headaches and the shakes. You will feel like shit. The second day your mouth will feel as if it has been in a sewer. Fur tounge and the sweats. this is the bodys way of getting rid of all the toxins that has acumilated in you over the years. On the morning of the third day you will begin to feel clean. Some lightheadyness will develop during the day and your energy levels will increase. You may think that you are hallucinating but in actual fact what is happening is that you can actuall see better. Colours are vivid and bright. On the morning of the fourth day you can begin to have a little soup. Don't over indulge. If you can get through this it is unlikly that you will have many cravings as most of the nicotine will have left your body. i would reccommend that for the first and second day you stay in bed. Read or get a pile of video's. A word of caution don't watch tv. You will be surprised how many add there are on food and drink. Not the sort of thing you want to see when fasting. And if you are guy you will be walking around with a hard on like a teenager. Don't know about the ladies but girls if you are married and hubby wants to quiet he's gonna be like a rabbit.

Well I have just finished darts and I didn't crave for smoke as much as I thought I would and WOW what an improvement in my darts also. I told the people at darts that I was giving up and they would have to stop should I go looking for one. One of the ladies actually gave me some gum to help if I needed it. Think that day might be tomorrow so will see what happens.
Thanks for all the support it is really humbling and also makes me more determined to prove all the doubters wrong by doing this. My own family laughed when I told them what I was doing.
I have been drinking a lot of water and eating a lot of fruit and its amazing how good I actually feel. You could say I had a pretty poor diet before now too. However I am hungry alot more now than I used to be but due to my reflux I have to watch what I eat.
Boomer good luck with the quitting, as you have seen from my posts you have the hard time as well as the good times about it. Pm if you want to share the experience.
I'm very proud of myself for not having a smoke yet and I have found that once you tell the people around you they are there for support 100%.
Now I feel I need to rant and rave and start a fight with someone.....wonder if Dan will answer my call hehehehe.
More updates tomorrow.
If this gum has nicotine in it THROW IT AWAY. Last place you want to put nicotine in your stomach and intestines. You are trying to get rid of the stuff not put more in. Cold turkey can be rough but that way you get rid of the shit faster. Eat eat and drink and drink. Gorge up on porridge fruit and get your bowls moving. Ya doing fine.

Yep the mindset is crucial. Have not read the book. What do they say on stress reduction. This is where most people fail. A stressfull situation occurs and they can not deal with this and resort to a toke..........get despondent and say 'what the fuck' and fail to give up. Managing your stress levels can be achived by some simple breathing techniques. In actual fact smokers realy need to retrain their breathing. But that's another story. What's the book say on all this??

Well done, good on ya!
I gave up 29yrs ago. It was hard, but I do not regret the decision.
I got sick of being married to a packet of cigarettes, I hate being controlled.
I could'nt go anywhere without that damn packet.
So I now have swapped it for motorbikes, all 6 of them.![]()
I'm nearly 2 years free of smokes now :-)
My 2c or what helped me:
The first weeks I ate snacks, lots of them and yup, weight increased until I found carrots.
Recognise your successes, they are not inconsequential, if no one else will then pay yourself on the back, you deserve it!
Goals - 6 months and i had saved enough to ride a Rusty Nuts Grand Challenge
Is anyone else around you giving up? If so bounce off them, "if they can do it, I can do it" is really powerful! There are a few others kickin the habit at the moment... http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=59158.
