Trainer wheels for 50s?

Baby baby bikie is currently happily plodding away on his lil aeon quad.
He can sit on his brothers suzuki 50 two wheeler but NO WAY can he touch the ground.
Im thinking of making up a set of "trainer wheels" for him so its as stable as a quad but rides like a bike then he can ride a 2 wheeler
Then I can move baby bikie up to a 80
Can anyone think why not to do this?

the only reason i can think of, is that the wheels might hit more stuff, as they protude outwards from the bike. but im sure that baby baby biker, won't be hitting the real tight stuff just yet.

yamaha do them for the pw50 and i saw an add on line the other day somewhere suzuki had them as well i need to get some for my daughters pw50 as dad just blew out the crank seal again on the quad it will take me for ever to round to doin the rebuild.

I was going to say that: I saw a JR50 with training wheels on the side of it a few weeks back. Maybe even in a Suzuki catalogue.

I wouldn't, though, just because of the hassle that training wheels caused my son when he was learning to ride a pushbike. Sure, they stopped him falling over, but they got caught on things, canted the bike over if he hit a kerb off-square, lifted the rear wheel completely on rough ground. And they didn't really teach him how to balance on a bike, either. I got him off them as soon as he seemed ready. Three months off the training wheels and I reckon he's not far off ready for a throttle now.

On that topic -- if anyone sees a decent deal on a twist-and-go 50 like the JR or PW I'd really appreciate a nod or a wink. I'm in the Wellington area, but prepared to ship or travel a bit for the right bike.

I reckon just let him ride without the trainers...he'll be sweet bro...he's bound to fall off a few times anyway...never had trainer wheels in my day...was years before I could sit on a bike properly and touch the ground...

nahh mate hes waaaay to short for that-as in hes half off the bike just to touch the ground on ONE side --the idea is he rides it like a quad -then I can sell the quad off and move BB upto a 80

thats not un-common tony...I had to lean up against something to get on my kx80 when I was a whipper snapper!! if I tryed to hop up on it while not..it would fall on me!! lol
