I'm not sure quite what the purpose of this thread is, but I was just musing about my bike (as you do - or leastways I do), and pondering how it started life in Hamamatsu, was shipped to the UK, thenceforth (yeah, I know that's not a real word) to Noo Zilund, and how since then it's become multinationalised.
"Multinationalised? WTF are you on about, Vifferdork?!?" I hear the rabble cry (or is that, "the rebel yell"? )

Japan: Most of the bike
UK: C/F tank protector, tyres, heated grips(?)
USA: Shifter kit, fork springs, C/F confirminator plates, accessory fusebox, Power Commander, "Tail of the Dragon" decal, coolant, airfilter
Canadia: Rear shock, modified footpeg hangers (originally Japanese)
Australia: Muffler, Speedo corrector, bulbs
Swisherland: Fork oil
Churmany: Headlight bulb
Netheregionsland: The other headlight bulb
Italia: Engine oil, tyre valves, chain'n'sprockets, horns
China: Confirminators, oilfilter, and sundry cheapcrap such as electrical connectors, bulbs, etc.
Noo Zilund: Brakelight flasher, packrack, headlight guard, sundry nuts'n'bolts, road spooge, mudflapthingo, scrapes'n'scratches, pilot

My bike - UK, then Aus, then UnZud. Not sure where it would have been made. I thought I was being fairly adventurous bringing my bike over with me, but when I think about it, bikes whizzing around in transit across the world is as common as muck.

Nope, but it's nineteen years old so maybe that makes a difference. Honda nt650s were a grey import to Aus and NZ, only released in the states and the UK. And mine is marked Bros which makes it UK, as they were Hawks in the states.

But there are some things about the bike that just don't add up.
Some of these may be due to it being crashed and fixed up, but others... :spudwhat:

• It's a 2001, which should mean it has a HISS ignition switch, but it doesn't.
• It has the headlight flasher switch, but not a park light (which I thought was a Euro/UK thing).

I am guessing my headlight flasher switch is broken. Whenever I have had to use it, the fuckers refuse to get out of the way.
Must fit the forward-firing shotgun...

Yes, we'd all like one of those, although a chaingun or minigun would be better.
You're very lucky, Mr Swoop, having one of those to fit. I have to make do with three loud horns, a stern glare (which is rendered somewhat ineffective by the tinted visor), and the WavingFingerOfAdmonition .

There are lots of odd things on bikes depending on markets and I wonder if a few of them reach markets they technically aren't intended for directly from the manufacturer. My 'bird manual says it's for the Australian, NZ and Brazilian markets: No headlight flasher, lights permanently on and no parking light. One of my riding partners has one with flasher, but permanently wired lights and wiring for a parking light but no light. Who knows? Maybe later parts fitted? Probably more accurately, who cares?
