Spraycan paint jobs rock, I swear by them

I love the headlight guard, it gives it an aire of militaria

Nice bike Sam, thats looking real mean!

And Sully, I'm using the rear brake to slow the rear wheel to slide as just chopping down the gears, the compression tends to lock the back quite abruptly.
    Alot of fun trying anyway!

Some cool SXV550 pics, I love the sound of a V-twin in a motard:

Shit, you got that for $6000?! That's not bad at all

What are some of the best bikes to look for? XR650? DRZ400? I'm pretty keen on the light, MX based 450's, 510/525's and CR/KX500's but the impression I've got with them is I'll have to do the piston and rings very often if I used them on the road. Is that true?

Yeah, it's the one with the massive 'sold' in it's description. Funny that, since it's had that on their supermotard site for ages now but it hasn't disappeared

I have a bit of a soft spot for the XR650s, but i think any of the enduro types are pretty good,i have a mate with a DRZ sm and he loves it, reliable as, the WRs make a cool tard also,

there is a XR650 sm on Trade me at the moment, i had a look at it at Wild west honda, its little rough around the edges but has lots of good gear on it, the guy will take $6500...good buy

You will have to do this in terms of keeping the thing running it's best. The 450MX'rs service intervals are based on Tim Ferry or Ricky Carmichael revvin the snot out them racing at the top level for big money.

But in the real world like were we live this just isn't practicle or affordable.

I run my trusty old YZ for about 18 months before I freshened it up. It was a bit overdue I must say, but the thing was still going good and never missed a beat. That thing took a hiding and just never let me down.

If you are going to do a lot of road riding do go for something bigger like an XR or a bigger KTM. They don'tr generally have that much better performance than a 450MXr but they'll have longer service intervals.

Having ridden a few different Motards both converted MX'rs and production Eurotards including the very NOX mentioned earlier I can say the you will not find a more focused and "tight" bike than that. I'ts a serious piece of kit and with some set up and seat time will be a real weapon if you wanted to race. And saying that if you were mainly using it on the road you'd probably get better value from an XR or WR. At least you can put the standard wheels back on and hoon up Karapoti, you could do that with the NOX, but you wouldn't want to.

Good luck in your search and let us know how you go

By the way, was that mates rates? Because all the LC4's I've seen around are pushing the $10000 mark
