They can be quite troublesome at times, back in 02 03 when we sold them they did have some funny things happen that just don't seem to happen to other bikes. Stupid things like stators failing on almost new bikes. The engines on the ones we had at the time had some innovative features such as the concentric counter balancer and the barrel casings being part of the crankcase asssembly so they're not the kind of thing you want to try and tackle major stuff on if you're not confident mechanically.
I must add though the importer at the time (don't know if it's still Nigel Bevan) did a good job with support so we never had the parts leadtime of other exotica such as Husky's etc.
Performance wise though they are awesome! The engine aren't super snappy like a Jappa 450, 660 SMC's or NOX but they're really tractable, smooth and torquey and just as powerful. The chassis apart from showing whats on the other side of the bike are really light so they're right up there in terms of handling. The Beringer four pots I tried on the 650SM have go to be one of the best setups I used on any bike (apart from radial Brembo's).
So to some up, One frikken awesome RACE bike, not something to be taken lightly!
