Ive run out of fucks to give
its just as well that this thread wasnt started in rant and rave, otherwise nobodys post count would be going up, and thats whats really important isnt it?
This mantra is often repeated as if it were a sufficient justification for anything. The fact that an organisation is not a 'democracy' is neither reason nor justification for it to be arbitrary, autocratic, dictatorial or arcane.Originally Posted by Hitcher
Reference to the history books, or examination of the world about, will disclose many examples of non-democratic organisations that avoid such failings. The example of the administration of Akhbar the Great is perhaps an overly ambitious target, but any administrator (which is what a moderator is) would gain much from consideration of the life and conduct of Todar Mal, to this day a byword for justice, transparency and fairness.
The Heaven Born may wish to examine their conduct in this matter against his standard
This belief has also been promoted until it has become a tenet of KB urban legend, put forward often as a justification for the otherwise unjustifiableOriginally Posted by El Dopa
From my own experience I can say that the claim that the moderator's task is an unrelievedly thankless one, and he the target of constant abuse is not correct
In my term as moderator I never once experienced any abuse directed at my as a result of moderator action . Argument, yes, that is to be expected. Abuse, no. On the contrary I often received thanks for what I did, sometimes from the subject of the moderation.
It is a tedious task, since the moderator must wade through many threads that have no personal interest. But it can be a satisfying task. After all, the moderators primary function is to help people . And doing so, why should there be any reaosn for abuse ?
And on the realtively rare occasions when reproof or correction is genuinely required, if this be done in a courteous and open fashion, showing that it is the behaviour being addressed and not an attack on the person, almost everyone will respond graciously.
The very very rare prick who is just aboard to cause trouble seldom requires any action by moderators. The combined condemnation and wrath of the membership can be relied to drop on them from a great height very quickly.
I have never , from either side of the curtain, seen any action by Mr Frosty that I would condemn.

TOP QUOTE: “The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money.”
Oh dear, it's getting a little frosty in here.
You are starting to loose the point of this.
1 It appears that one MOD was logging on twice. Ie representing another MOD
2 Two of our MODs are a couple. That's a conflict of interest big time.
3 One of our MODs was sending out very aggressive and all most obscene senture (sp) PMs
4 Frosty was sent a nasty PM. That said he is not welcom here.
And there are other points. This is not just about a hissy fit. I know Frosty is not completely free of blame. I had a stoush with him over a posting I made some time ago. Thats life. He has been moved off the MODs list. It is how it was done and what was said and in what order it was done. Also a conflict of interest. And I know it has been denied but it is clear to some of us that one MOD has been logged on doing the job of two.
That's what this was about. I wish Tony would publish the first PM he got and what happened after he got it and in what order things were done.
Anyway due to a lot of PMs and Emails I recon some changes are going to be made and things will run a lot better.
Come on back Tony. We need you and the Trackdays bonds us as a group.
Sorry to hear you are gone Frosty, you seem to have done a lot for a lot of people.Damn you can never get away from politics.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I have been watching this thread for the last couple of days trying to keep out of if but I have to say that I agree with you Hich especialy on this point, it realy is disapointing to see this thread turn into another Joni bashing session, grow up people. I am also personaly sad for Frosty but hey Frosty like I said to Ixion you dont need to be a Mod to have the respect of the Kiwibiker fratenety you got that for what you do for people not for any percived elevation in the pecking order that being a mod gives you.
{edit}
was going to post something generous and nice and long but fuck it.
wat a load of bollocks
dont break your cake
Well you can address it without me - I'm sick of this ..... It eats at your soul and it's not healthy. You are right - something stinks and the rot is in the hearts of a few people - not the mods, not the majority but the few and I can't be arsed with it..... I'm busy - I'm sick and I don't have the energy anymore......
I'll see you folks out on the road one day some place - the trumpy is pretty well um mistakeable and the Guzzi is getting a tickle up. Please make sure you say hi.

Geez...I hope that doesn't mean you are cutting a track??? This subject is deeply affecting, but I have reached the point where I choose not to let it get me bitter and twisted. However, I am not fooled by re-assurances that all is peachy and above board. The people I choose to associate more closely with on and off KB are great sorts, and I see no reason to not to continue doing so.
A little older, a little wiser, a little more cynical.

It also makes people respect mods by havin ones there that people know and have good repour (spelling error hitch) and have earned it by their actions.
The other point is also people contribute to this site financiallyand as far as i am concerned there will be no contributions from my household any more. We also put time and effort to make it fun for people so we should have some say i dont exspect the world.
