See with you just wearing ordinary leathers and you could be anyone..... out there riding... But if you were wearing the housemaid leathers then I would have definitly known it was you......

Just to be an arse - but you must obviously have found out that the limit was there one way or the other...

It was nothing to do with that, absolutely unaffected whatsoever.

    simple mistake thats all.
If I made the "simple mistake" of writing off a vehicle after having had any amount of alcohol - and feeling "absolutely unaffected" - I'd still question whether the alcohol had any effect.

At least the only substantial damage was material!

Thanks Slikaz for your kind words, interesting seeing a bystanders opinion.

Anyway so I was heading into town to do an errand and phoned Boomer to see if he wanted to head into Mission Bay for a beer.. he did.
So anyway into Mission Bay, parked up at the little bike park across the road from Movenpick, near the beach. Went and had 2 beers at de Fontein, nice they were too.. spent about an hour sitting there yarning away to Boomer.
So anyway, time came to leave so we hopped on our bikes. Now I was turning right onto Tamaki Drive from the carpark to head towards city, there is an intersection with traffic lights about 20 metres further on. As I was turning right onto Tamaki dve, the lights went orange so I gave it a little bit of throttle to get through them while leaned over... and now stone cold tyres... back lit up, came around to meet me in the front and then superman styles onto the road, hard on my right shoulder and right side of my head. Bike cartwheeled and tumbled on down the road a bit coming to rest against the curb by the abovementioned bus stop. Fark it I thought. Anyway I hop up real quick and do the quick check of all the amenities which seemed intact. Then after that there seemed like hundreds of people coming out of all the bars and resturants and from the beach, all wanting to help. It was quite overwhelming to be honest, it was so many people in my face, they were all trying to help and everything which was great but I just wanted to sit and rest and think about what I had to do. Bike looked pretty sad, not much left on it. Then the ambo's came (oh great.. it was my ambulance from my station... I had handed over to this very crew only 3 hrs prior!!). Right shoulder was bloody sore, wondered if I had broken something.
So off to Hospital where all the staff had fun poking and prodding me. X-rays said I was clear of fractures, Just bruising and a damaged AC Joint.. all good, some lovely pain relief and a sling and I am on my way home!!

So if I can say one thing is that, I was just gonna wear my bike jacket and jeans and "safety shoes", but for some strange reason I said.... nah I will go the one piece leathers.. welllucky I did eh cos I slid right through the intersection, and not a mark on me!..

So now,... what bike to get next??
What an absolute crock of shit.

I gots da REAL story right here.

Glen's been managing and crewing for WBP racing that long, he decided to get in on the "Let's chuck it away on cold tyres" buzz. And in true WBP style, we don't do things by halfs

Glad you're (mostly) OK bro. Looking forward to goin bike shopping with ya. Motomail's got the new 312R in stock. You could do worse.

    You're obviously an authority.

You don't think a respected ambulance officer knows the dangers of drinking to excess before riding? As an ambulance officer, it'd be pretty easy to find out how many beers it'd take to put you over the limit as well don't ya think?

I'd certainly hope so on the first bit. However, we were never talking about drinking to excess here...

As for the last bit I didn't know that the ambulances did the drink driving policing, but obviously I could be mistaken on that count as well.

or is it just good old gixxer curse?
