I would test ride a TL first. Think the SV engine is a detuned TL.

Retuned would be a better description. on the road theres really nothing in it .The TLS has a little less down low but will run hard to the limiter with a definite kick at about 6500rpm where the SV has a much flatter torque curve and will flatten out a little at high rpm.

The SV was never meant to be the new TL and its a bit more civilised . I love TL's but the SV is probably an easier bike to live with. amazingly they are quite different bikes for such a similar design and obviously the same engine.

    SV's make good girls bikes

Mate of mine`s got one on loan from his insurance company..............and he dosnt like it at all.Well he does and he dosnt, like me he`s an older biker and usually runs a 1200 Bandit, the un-faired one which I dont think you get but which is way more popular here than the faired one.SV is doing his back in,he`s used to the "sit up" riding position of the Bandit and cant stand the SV for more than 20 minutes.Shame as he`d probably love the naked version.Only thing he can find to criticise is the riding position but lets face it,if you`re crippled up after riding back from work then it`s not the bike for you is it?I`d have exactly the same problem,my Fazer`s got a couple of inches chopped from the seat so I`m nice and low without "assuming the position" over the tank.Believe me if you got a few years riding in what passes for Brit weather then pretty soon low bars would lose their appeal to you as well.

I agree with Morepower, retuned is definitely the word. I read about a million reviews b4 i got mine, but really you just have to throw a leg over and see what you reckon. I cranked out just over 420km yesterday with only the stop for gas (at 221 km, with about 4 litres left in the tank if the manual is to be believed), and i was just fine - it's taken a while but i've adjusted to the bikes ergos.

It's easy quick enough, it's just about cosy enough. DEFINTELY get rid of the stock pipes tho... i've heard two with stocks and it's a waste of a vtwin engine with them on...

In the next short while, i'll thow a double bubble, the jre mod and some k&n's at it (leaving the snorkel alone i think), then i'm gonna ride it till it's an antique or i can't get on it by myself - i love the SV.

They are great bike Judderbar. I had mine lowered which has caused a few handling issues which I am sorting through with a few frineds (ummm ta KBers).

The demo I tested just rocked and had aftermarket pipes. I am really lookig forward to getting the set up sorted as at the moment it is still riding hard.

Having said that I am not a fast rider so dont know its full capabilities. Frosty did a write up in the bike reviews which may be of interest to you.
