Crash in Mission Bay (18 Nov, pm)

    Hi Guys,
Last night while i was having dinner around 9pm at a place in mission bay next to starbucks, a biker was waiting for the lights to go green. i was admiring the blue suzuki R he was sittin on, hoping one day i could get one, then the lights went green, he wast turning left, he revved, i think he reved too hard, im not sure, but then i saw the rear wheel skid on the turn and he wobbled a little before hitting the ground hard but his bike took major damage as it crashed and tumbled on the road, ending up next to the busstop infront of starbucks, almost hitting someone seated at the busstop..i saw the girl jump up n run out of its way..
the poor guy got up and was very shaken..we helped him up and checked if he was ok and called an ambulance..and we had to leave soon after the ambulance picked him up.
i hope that it was none of you, and i also hope whoever he is, that he is ok, because someone said that he seems to have broken his shoulder, from the way he hit the ground i thought it would be worse off, but i hope his protective gear did its job.
his bike was most certainly a write off..poor lad i felt so bad for him..i dont think he was trying to show off..just think bad line up of occurances. truly hope that it was nothing serious and that insurance cleared his monetary worry..
    God Bless.

The rider is ok - has injured his shoulder but will be allright after a bit of R & R. Damned cold tyres, eh G?

I'm sure he'll tell the story when he's ready.

Nice to hear everyone went to his aid. There's so much negative crap in the papers these days it's easy to believe that the compassion has gone . . .

Glad to hear no real damage was done to you dude!

Sounds almost identical to the crash I had a while back, except I managed to land awkwardly on a thumb and smash it, and it was a greasy road rather than cold tyres that got me.

    All part of the game.

Now, I think this is my cue to convince you to switch to something Italian next. I seem to be getting good at that...

Went and had 2 beers at de Fontein, nice they were too.. spent about an hour sitting there yarning away to Boomer.

Now I was turning right onto Tamaki Drive from the carpark to head towards city, there is an intersection with traffic lights about 20 metres further on. As I was turning right onto Tamaki dve, the lights went orange so I gave it a little bit of throttle to get through them while leaned over... and now stone cold tyres...

Bike looked pretty sad, not much left on it. Then the ambo's came (oh great.. it was my ambulance from my station... I had handed over to this very crew only 3 hrs prior!!). Right shoulder was bloody sore, wondered if I had broken something.
So off to Hospital where all the staff had fun poking and prodding me. X-rays said I was clear of fractures, Just bruising and a damaged AC Joint.. all good, some lovely pain relief and a sling and I am on my way home!!

So if I can say one thing is that, I was just gonna wear my bike jacket and jeans and "safety shoes", but for some strange reason I said.... nah I will go the one piece leathers.. welllucky I did eh cos I slid right through the intersection, and not a mark on me!..
A few things I'm tempted to comment on... but good to hear you're alright (ATGATT ).

I hope your insurance agent is a nice fella
