Exactly. It's not an unreasonable request to want a safer barrier for motorcyclists.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Is it unreasonable to ask motorcyclists to ride with a greater degree of maturity and responsibility?

Wrong forum, Katman...this is cheesecutter campaign, not your "lets play nice" campaign...
But, ALL the people I ride with are responsible and mature about their riding...you need to change your circle of friends...

You can pat yourself on the back for being responsible and mature when a double blowout on a diesel slick sees you sliding into a cheesecuttter.
Please don't forget we want a report with pics, from you, of course, so that we can also congratulate you for being so responsible and mature...not to mention, highly skilled in keeping yourself safe.

And therein lies your greatest problem. You are too intently focused on a small issue (that we, as motorcyclists, through our own actions, have the ability to greatly lessen the impact of) instead of looking at the bigger picture. Target fixation indeed.

    You go, girl...
Our roads are littered with the corpses of motorcyclists. Some of those deaths were avoidable, some were not...that's just part of the dangers of motorcycling. Reducing the dangers is something close to (most of) our hearts.
For all the bagging they get, Transit are trying to make our roads safer...it's just that WRB are a poor choice for us.
Katman, you keep plugging away at changing attitudes (good luck with that), the rest of us will work on things that threaten our lives but can be changed.
So, if you haven't anything sensible to offer in the cheesecutter threads, then I reiterate the earlier statements....FUCK OFF.

    cheers dude.

hey katman... heres a question. you know those two bikes that got hit by that cop? how would things have been different if they were both riding with or without maturity? what about the toy run taken out by a camper? group riding requires lots of maturity. i know none of those involve a cheese cutter, but you state mature riding will protect us from everything that threatens us, like some kind of force field. newsflash: it wont. the unexpected will bite hard, and we do not get a say in the matter. when the reaper comes... we have to go.

Sorry but reading the artical just leaves me saying "What a crock of sh!t" Transit don't give a stuff about bike riders safety, when they take the Motorcylist figures out of their investigation for reason they stated esle where " we have removed motorbike crash data as it adversly effects our survey "

time to get real, we have to be in there face at every opertunity, the slightest chance of getting our message over has to be taken,
    BTW
Has any body got a link to the Ozzy protest over these things I believe it was South Australia where the bikers just parked up on the State highway and had a sit down protest to bring their protest to the attention of every one, and lets not forget

Wire and steel barriers kill and maim bikers.
wire and Steel barrier kill and maim Car drivers, even if installed as per designers specs, ours in NZ fail in most places to even comply.
Wire and Steel barriers fail to stop lorries either going straight through them, or over the top of them and then either killing and maiming Bikers and car drivers.
    Rant over.

Hey Welsh Wizard we are well aware of Transits "abilities", regarding motorcyclists and road safety, in particular re the current campaign.

There are quite a few of us who would like to ramp the campaign up a bit with acts of civil disobedience and the like. There are others who believe our interests will best be served by dialogue with the appropriate authorities.

TBPH I don't know which group is right....I just know that we can't afford to get it wrong, because it will be decades before we get another chance.

You're generalising. Not all motorcyclists ride like twats.

Don't get me wrong, when I say we need to ramp it up, I mean don't let them think we are going away, they read these threads so the more they see about the more they are going to have to think about, in the end they will loose
