I was reading an article in the Harold the other day relating to social networking places being used by potentioal employers to vet candidates. The advice was, if you dont want something you did 10 years ago as a young fella to come back and bite you, then dont post it! While KB is not primarily a social networking place, the new improved version of vbulliten offers the ability to have the bebo type profile page.........yeah my advice, be careful what you post.

    Odd.

I've read that some worthless doorknob can dump a bunch of bags of his rubish off the side of the road somewhere; you can go through it looking for contact details... but you can't charge him because there is no chain of evidence to prove it was actually him who dumped it there.

Now you do need a password to access your account on KB - but does that really prove it was you who posted something?

If you haven't seen it on CSI Miami, it's just not going to happen.

It's all being recorded digitally. If and only if you ever get involved in something serious. Then they are able to search everything you have done posted whatever and form a profile or character CV. Not a problem unless you want to be a modern day, Scott Watson, David Bain. Forget who the one in the kindie in Chch was. You would be naive to believe this is crap. Electronics is the way they are heading. Ask some you know how much is being spent by the Govt on digital storage systems.

I doubt that they would ever chase a speeding ticket based on a forum post - but they can trace you - there have been many instances of this tracking kiddy fiddling scum. Heck the other day they unmanipulated a pic to get one of the bastards - now THAT was cool.

You run a far greater chance of having your digital id stolen for internet banking purposes ebay fraud etc before you have to worry about he police kicking your door in over pulling a stoppie.

I read a story in the Herald not so long ago about some boy racer. He was driving disqualified and went through a checkpoint. He said he'd left his licence at home and gave false details and got away with it. He went home and bragged about it including all the details on an internet forum (skylines downunder I think) and the police got him. I thought it was pretty funny but it does go to show that anyone can read what you post.
