I ve been riding a long time had my share of spills and close calls.Lost of few mates and now family along the line as well.I agree bike horse power should be limited for newer riders but its not.Only riding and maybe a bit of age can teach ppl to not take it to the limit all the time.I reckon there not alot of point in trying to blame ppl either ( the bloody cagers ) as i am one of those too.I would like to think i am pretty aware of bikes on the road but have come close to not seeing bikes now and then.fucked if i know whaat im trying to say here
Just be careful out there binning hurts dieing hurts the ones you love

Bad times over here in Perth, as well - 3 bikers killed since Wednesday. We knew one - a funny enthusiastic guy who had a 17 yr old pull out of a stop sign straight in front of him! One was killed when a car lost control and hit him and the third hit a patch of loose gravel in a corner in the hills and went into the trees...
    Take care people.

Had a F'in police car do it to me over the weekend. Definately change of underwear time.

To make matters worse I'd been following him 20 or so metres back for 2 to 3K No excuse for not knowing I was there.

Whats going on in this COUNTRY!!!!

Firstly my condolences to the three killed this weekend.

I am blown away by the weekends deaths (and the ones the weekend before!) By the way does anyone know who the Motorcyclist/s were that got mown down by a dickhead drunkdriver? By whangarei? Last Sunday?

Last I knew "motorcyclist/s were in stable condition" Driver died.
    (Scuse me but Im furious!)

Dont mess with Motorcycles if your a drunken idiot, theyll get ya on your way to hell!!!

I am SHIT scared of what the Xmas road tolls and the Xmas deaths pissed idiots are going to bring!
I have alot of travelling to do, will my kids, or anyone left that I love get mown down too!!!? Our population is too small for this ongoing carnage!!!!

I didn't see any of the (far more reprehensible) drink-driving deaths using such obvious "temporary citizen" wording.

It would seem that you can drink up, go out in a car, kill innocent third parties and then get written about in nice, neutral tones, but if something goes wrong on a bike and the rider dies, the reporting is invariably painted in emotive shades of self-righteous priggery.
The article described 5 crashes, 4 cage and 1 bike. Two of the cage crashes used language just as emotive as the bike crash

"a car carrying five people aged 17 to 24 careered off Mt Aspiring Rd..."

"his car, travelling at speed, smashed through a fence and tumbled 70 metres..."

An anti-bike bias there may be, but I don't think this article shows it.

Also, why is it that they can't/don't say who was at fault in the head-on collision? They don't normally seem so worried about accuracy that they hold back till it's certain

It is a hard one. Nasty for the family of the person in the wrong to have the public finger pointing but ti is still needed. Maby just a quiet note in the artical that 'the sough bound car has crossed the center line dew to:'

If it is drunk then the driver deserves all they get. (if they survive) If they dont then the family dont deserve it.

Please excuse my emotion laden post last night, was so furious reading all these other drink driving accidents it spilled over...my apologies.

Its not always about how I feel, sometimes I cant see the sky for the clouds.

My apologies to these three families, its not fair, and my thoughts are with you

Your nic says it all. What astonishes me is that the message is not getting to where it is needed most.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

What can I say...your right the message doesnt sink in and its not getting to the top....Ive got a big job on.
The "night" is young with what Im doing, but somebodies got to do it, and show others affected in similar situations that its possible to not be a victim, get the power back and do so with pride and dignity.

The things that may be on my side, is that Im working class, Im real, Im not an angel and I dont pretend to be, Im not stupid and I wont be following the same paths as others before me.

At the end of the day, at least I know from stories sent to me that Ive already succeeded in reaching some people, some are unreachable - and theyre everywhere.

Maybe if I can provoke thought for more than a 30 second advert provokes and ask the tough questions.

Promoting *555, since the cops/acc and government arent keen, yet its a service thats supposed to be provided for Road Users Safety(oops).

Saying the wrong things at the right times , then I know Im doing the right thing - no trial to biase as Universal Justice is served - the killer of my husband and his mates is dead too, and seizing that little window of opportunity that not many in this situation have.

Thankfully I do have a huge amount of support (more than Id ever thought)with what Im doing and what Ive created, so I know Im on the right track.
And I know Im doing the right thing by Leon, Si and Toni, and our families and friends devastated by this.

To answer everones comments etc etc... Andre Jacobs, KB name "BuRnS" is the 18 year old who died in Wellington on Saturday 24th after an """oncoming car crossed the centreline""" on a corner and hit Andre. He later died in hospital. Andre was riding his Firestorm he bought eight days befor. the police are charging the other driver. RIP brother
Andre had been riding for over 3years and been to 3 trackdays, he had his full liscense and was doing everything right.

So how did this get so twisted and fucked up...
An 18Yr old riding a 1000cc bike bloughed into a car...
When the "police are charging the other driver"

As sad as it is it is a stereotype. We are a victim of motorcyclings past of being crazy people who take big risks, and with how todays media works they never want ot know about the good things bikes want to do. CC campaign, the only time the toy run gets on the news is when 4 riders get killed by somebody on the wrong side of the road. Am i fucked off? Yes. Enough to make me want to move over seas. Not just this but the hole bloody government. The way they sitting around bitching about who recommended who for a job when basic things are being forgotten, road safety for one. At least in America people will not do somthing because you can sew them till they bleed, but here people just do not care because it takes morals to do the right thing.
