    Big Toys

After 2 years and 30k on the NC30, no accidents. Nothing ever going wrong with the bike.

I think it's time to upgrade to something a little bigger. And to the fact the people are starting to pick on me about the cosmetics of the bike. Even though the bike is mechanically sound (and sounds mint too). I’m going to sell the NC30 and buy a VTR-SP1.

I’m not just some punk arse kid (anymore) that wants a fast bike, I think I have earned the right to ride a 1000cc sports bike.
I have been riding since I was 17, so it's not like I don't know how to handle a bike, yah know?

How long did you guys take to get to a bigger bike?
And what CC ratings did you go from?

    I went from 3 x 250's to a 400 and then the 1000

learnt on a 125 (1 week course from zilch to test)
400 for a few years, now on a 650. Have ridden plenty of litre bikes though. Would love an SP1.

Excellent choice!!! SP1 is a lovely bike.

I have to admit to being a bit apprehensive about entering a thread started by the infamous NC30 called "Big Toys".

    I had 3x 250s, 2x400s, 1x750, 1x600, and 1x 850.

I've hit the stage in life where I don't care what I ride, so long as I have a ride.

You have fun on that, ya hear?

when i started i had a ER125 and NO idea on how to ride it, had the bike shop drop it off at home...mother spat the dummy! the old man said things that even made me blush..learn't to ride on the front lawn...in the middle of Richmond (nelson) feel off a couple (yer right ) times, then off into the big wide world, the bike got me to Auckland and back!!!
then i found out that if i had a bigger bike i could go even faster!!!..in came a brand new GS 450e, 70k latter and a couple of speeding fines i got all cruisy and got the CX500 sports, (bro had the twin shock 78 modle) and promply ran rings round him, to his discust! hahahaha then i thought that a brand new GSX750 esd was the best thing out there..but then i saw the next year that the XJ 900 was even better.... got married, sold the bike, separated and my best mate(now!! hahaha) told me to look after his XJ650 Turbo while is over seas... have crashed on every bike and walked away with the pride hurt but learn't what not to do on , ICE, trying to keep up with a better ride (everyone else), what happens when the front/rear tyre goes flat, when it is a good time to stop when the car in front is also stopped..that was imbarrising... rush hr in CHCH hahahah,

    To quote Homer Simpson:

    "Hmmmm. SP1..."

Mind you, he also said: "Hmmmm. ZRX1200R..."

I went from a 250 to a 1200 (well, 1164 to be precise). Apart from having to spend money, it was largely painless. It was almost exactly a year ago as well.

    Have fun on that Honda!
